anyone have experience with Timney or Jard?
I realize that. I shoot off bipods with rear bag...no rest. I was hoping to get down to about 12-16 oz. My other two rifles are Savages. One has the RB Sav2 adjusted to a very clean break at 6 oz. The other has the factory red blade trigger which works quite well at 8-10 oz so I'm not looking for a 2 oz trigger. Are there any issues with creep or over travel that can't be adjusted out?I have a timney on mine. It's an improvement on the stock trigger and was worth the money to me for the more consistent break behavior, but it is emphatically NOT a benchrest grade trigger and isn't in the same league as jewels and such.
with regard to the Jard, on their website they show selectable pull weights. That gave me the impression that they weren't adjustable. You state that they are. I've read that the Timney is 2 stage. Is the Jard also? what about creep/overtravel? I'd prefer a single stage.I’ve used both on three different RPRs I owned and my preference was the Jard but it’s also more of the kind of trigger I prefer. Timney is great too. Can’t go wrong with either but they are two different feeling triggers in my opinion.
Both are adjustable (albeit differently in how they do it) and go pretty low for what they are but as others said they’ll never replace my Bix.
My comments weren't about pull weight, it was more about that crisp glass break of a really good trigger when the sear releases perfectly cleanly. I've had many triggers that did that very well at everything from 1.5oz up to 1.5lbs.I realize that. I shoot off bipods with rear bag...no rest. I was hoping to get down to about 12-16 oz.
