I've heard a lot of negative comments about Moly in terms of maintaining supreme accuracy - that moly buildup from coated bullets can create "flyers" and be really hard to clean and perhaps cause throat issues.
I use KG-6 and shoot mostly naked bullets in two of my "field" rifles. One has over 3k rounds through it (.308) and another has about 800 (.300 WM). I started using KG-6 after the barrels were broken in quite well.
In another case, my buddy wanted to start out with KG-6 before the very first shot. He saw how easy my guns cleaned and thought doing it really early would help even more. It does in that rifle at least. I warned him of the statements I had heard about doing that, but he said, "Hey you can always buy a new barrel." I liked the attitude and a chance to see what would happen.
I've never had a chance to load for his rifle, and he has only loaded maybe 400 rounds so he is rather new to have the feel and patience to maintain really thorough and consistent reloading operations. I say all this to say his ES has always been a bit higher than mine, but not with any real "outliers". I'm still getting ES in the teens or low 20's (once in single digits
with an impractical bullet
) once I get something worked up and tuned. I'm one of those guys that can't help but start new loads all the time. Bad habit I guess.
I've never shot paper past 575 yards, so maybe I'm missing something. The only fliers seem to come from me.
I'm just a pup when it comes to all this, so any experience or linkable/ quotable evidence would be great concerning the topic. I was hoping that some shooters may have experience with KG-6 compared to other products.
