Opinions on 6.5 Creed rifle

Just finished my last build and I need another rifle. This time I'm going a different route and going factory. So, I have a Savage Model 12LRP and a Ruger Precision Rifle as my choices. Why would you pick one over the other? Also, this rifle will be used on coyote stands and shooting at pretty rocks waaaaay out there. Just for fun. Don't mind the weight of either one. Haven't owned a Savage or Ruger since the late 70's.

I personally like the looks and feels of the Savage over the Ruger but the last Ruger precision rifle I messed with was probably the most accurate factory rifle I have ever shot. It was really impressive and incredibly easy to tune.

While the Ruger Precision Rifles are very accurate for a factory stick, the ergonomics have shown to be a love/hate relationship with the shooters I know. I’ve driven one before and didn’t care for the way it felt but YMMV. I would suggest getting behind one before deciding/purchasing to see if it’s right for you.

My Gen 1 RPR chambered in .243 shoots good and I like it a lot. The look and ergonomics aren’t for everyone though.

Both are good but I have shot a Ruger RPR in 6.5 Creed and it really surprised me even with factory ammo.

+1. The RPRs are very accurate and look good (to me, at least), but I don't care for chassis's feel & handling. The HS on the Savage would win me out. If you get a chance, test drive a Ruger before buying one.

Ohh. I looked at those. However, this will be my 4th rifle this year and I was hoping to not spend over 2K for rifle and scope.
Understood there, I don't like telling guys how to spend money, but the Savage plug and play, if you follow the rpr world, they can be money pits like AR's. First it's bolt shroud, then barrel, etc..., not saying it wont run out of the box, but aftermarket goodies popped up immediately for the thing.

Quite honestly...That's exactly what happens to all of my gun purchases!!! No wonder I'm broke!!

I understand it’s not what you asked about but I am gonna pick up a Bergara HMR B14 to play with. Handling one in person versus other factory rifles in its price range, I was very impressed. I have bought a factory rifle in years and may be disappointed. Maybe not.
