Opinions about measuring Seating depth on CF rifle

I think this is the hot ticket -

Don't know but maybe my method is too simple. I use a jewelers saw to split the neck of a case so that a bullet will slide in or out with just a little bit of friction. I put whatever bullet I intend to use in the case, seat it long, and chamber the round. Then I extract the round and measure the OAL. No tools to buy and works every time.

The split neck case is one of three methods I use. A dremel tool with cut off wheel works well to cut the slits. I find I need to apply very slight pressure on the bullet tip with a dowel or cleaning rod to get the bullet to release from the lands as I open the bolt.

I also use the split case neck and it works fine for me. That Dolphin Accuriser is one sweet-looking device, though.

I use the Sinclair tool. I've tried all the above mentioned techniques and the Sinclair works best for me. The key to using the Sinclair is sorting your bullets and trimming them to an exact length for consistent results. I repeat the process several times and find that I am always within .001-.002. That's good enough for the Berger 185 LRBT bullets I use. They are quite tolerant of most seating depths.

4xforfun i like your "primitive" way to find seating depth, i always wanted to try that just never got the balls to takedown a savage bolt :-[
