Only One Shooting Match

If you could attend only one shooting match what would you consider the best of the best. One that would have the largest turnout of shooters for F-Class and or bench.

100 and 600 yard shooting.

I will be coming back to the states for a visit and would like to schedule my trip around one of these matches so I can attend and see a large match

It is all Palma and 1000 yard, but the Berger Nationals in Phoenix get my vote for F-Class. I think the point-blank BR guys would probably say Kelbly's Super Shoot.

Kelbly's SuperShoot for point blank. Camp Perry for High Power. F-Class Nationals for F-Class.

Now if you were to pick one match to shoot for maximum fun, efficiency, and enjoyment, I would choose the monthly Varmint Silhouette match at Pala near oceanside California. It's fast, it's fun, it's extremely well run, costs little to enter, and you can be competitive with anything from a .223 Rem to a 6.5-284. You can shoot from bench -- or prone, as you desire. Spotter "assistants" allowed.

Howdy !

Perhaps not exactly what you had in-mind, but.....

The Western Pennsylvania World Groundhog & Egg Shooting Championship; typically held the last weekedn of Sep.

This shoot includes each year's monthly series of groundhog matches, at the Southfork RIfle Club; near Beaverdale. PA.
Southforkrifleclub.com

I attended just the one season-ending "World Championship" match, which shooters are allowed to do.
They shoot three classes: " Factory", "Factory Super Stock"; and "Custom".

Imention this match, because you'll see every type of accuracy and factory rifle shot there; including a smattering of BR "handguns".
Some shooters shoot it all w/ a "bench gun ", others with on of their hunting rifles; others w/ an "F"-class type rig.
You can shoot multiple classes, to maximize your opportunities to win.

Not suprisingly, a respresentation PA area gunsmiths ( including well-know ones ) will be there.

Southfork shoots 100, 300 & 500yd from benches, both Sat and Sun. The "egg" shoot takes place only on Sat.

I have heard that Southfork gives out more prizes & $$$, than the " Hickory " groundhog match.
Great folks, at a nice range; in a scenic part of PA ( very close to Johnstown Flood National Monument ).

I used to drive 7hr from NE Indiana, just to attend; but am re-located now; even further West.
For me, the World Championship Match was well-worth the drive !

If 1000 yard bench rest strikes your fancy, The World Open at Williamsport is a pretty good time. It usually draws a combination of 300 guns, 17 pounders though guns that weigh in excess of a 100 pounds.

There are usually a couple vendors selling new equipment and a lot of used equipment for sale by the shooters.

If you truely want to have a S--- Load of fun come shoot a Precision Rifle(Sniper) Match at Rifles Only in Kingsville TEXAS, there is a Match in the fall there.
