Hogpatrol, your right about the 8000 hrs, and then you still learn through the years. The amazing thing in 1500 hrs i can pilot commercial planes with folks in them

Isn't that 1500 for F/O parts 121 and 135?

Be careful with them spindles turning. Last thing you need is to have your shirt tuck or necklace get caught on a spindle turning at 6000 plus RPMs. It'll throw your ass over the machine and kill you before you could even think. Other than that, learn how to run a manual mill/lathe before you learn how to run CNC programs. That's what spoiled me was I started on CNC learning code writing and MasterCAM etc. etc. I still have a hell of a time running a manual lathe though.

Marc L'Ecuyer is a Machine Operator Instructor in Canada and offers excellent and entertaining videos on youtube as well as a very informative website.

His videos are very detailed on steps and techniques. He also includes PDF's of project plans from his videos.

After teaching machine shop for 24 years, first at Algonquin Collège and then at La Cité Collégiale, I have kind of become used to sharing information with others. I began producing small videos in 2007 to help my students with their shop projects. In 2012, I uploaded my first videos to Youtube to make them more accessible. To my surprise these videos became quite popular with home machinists all over the globe. I was very happy to see that so many people were interested in good old fashion manual machining. And so I decided to create That Lazy Machinist and begin producing videos in order to share the Old techniques with even more people. I do not pretend to be "THE EXPERT", I am just a retired machinist who enjoys sharing and helping others. MARC L'ECUYER THAT LAZY MACHINIST
