Got home from work yesterday and wanted to put my last loaded round for my 223 to good use, to get all the brass fired before i loaded a new batch.
Looking out in the back yard i see a "few" vultures taking turns munching on the previous day's target...
So i am looking for a known offender at about 125yds to make it an easy for-sure shot, but the only one i see is just short of 300yds...a big ole dude munchin' the alfalfa.
so i get set up and put on 2.5moa waiting for a standing shot, because i was a bit unsure of a perfect zero due to a lot of knob twiddling the previous week)
well, he was getting nervous of the vultures about 75yds to the left so i decided to take a head on, head raised shot -- the alfalfa was several inches high, so it was good he was a big bugger.
The shot touched off just under his chin as he was looking at me...
On the shot, he looked to inflate and deflate a with a dull, deep "thwup" sound and stayed were he was laying...no movement. I was watching close, but with no follow up shots, so i was glad he didnt move after the shot.
Recruited my pup to sniff him out, and just had to take some pics...he was a huge bugger at least 15lbs, and i liked the shot placement...
I love it when a plan comes together
Guess i put the last shot to good use
