One more 108 BT Test in the 6 Dasher

I got out this am and shot the 108's thru my 6 dasher once more testing powder charges at 500 yards and my barrel seems to really like the bullet.
The powder used is unavailable to the public so for safety reasons and the lack of availability of this powder I won't publish any data. I will say the different groups are .2 grain difference from one to the next lowest charge top left and moving right +.2 grains and so forth to group five.

These were shot at 500 yards temps were 65* and winds 4-5 mph and switching directions.

Next test will be with 2 different primers and same charge as group #2 and#3 to see if I can improve on this any better than I have now.

Thanks for reading.....

Hey James! The group at .736 is EXCELLENT at 500 yards! I think you got a winner there! Take that baby out to a 600 yard F-Open match and get a 600-40+"X's"!! You got it going on my friend!

Thanks,

I shoot bench rest so I doubt I'll ever shoot any F class stuff. I just wanted show those who hasn't ever tried the Berger 108 what its capabilities are over the hybrids and VLD bullets. Those who have shot this bullet knows but for others that hasn't it gives them another option.

I shoot BOTH the 105 VLD's and the 108's. I have had better consistent accuracy with the 108's BUT I have had MORE groups that printed smaller with the 105 VLD's. But I do think that depending on YOUR barrel, the 108's MAY very well out-shoot the VLD's. Having said that, I am also working on some 105 JLK's. They show much promise. We shall see.

I believe 34.6 is worthy of another try. It actually shows least vertical, and the switchy winds may have been the culprit on overall size.

Tim,

I'm gonna actually shoot the .559 group size and the .736 group over again and this time using the F205m and the 450m and see then which of those shoot the best and just run with it from there.

Understand the powder thing --- However, what velocity are you running the 108's at?
LitLBoy

Right before I started this test I loaded up some match loads and shot them over the chronograph to get a base line of what velocity my match loads are shooting at.

I then tested this same powder to see where I needed to be to achieve the same velocity.
My match loads velocity with the 105 Hybrids run at 2974 FPS and a ES of 8 FPS
The first test load I shot today on group #1 went 2979 FPS with an ES of 9 FPS

The upper load shot today which is group #5 should be right around 3002 FPS with an ES of 4FPS. That's only a guess as when I did do the chronograph testing the other day .1 grain less than group #5 shot the 3002 FPS.

Once I get the primer testing done I'll re verify the chronograph speeds.

Neck turning? How much neck tension? Had limited but for me exceptional accuracy with 108's at 300 yards with skimmed neck and .266 bushing. Chamber cast shows .269 dimension. What's your seating depth? Off or in? I'm working at.010 off touching.

Ps thanks for the inspiring groups!
