With the weather being nice this past Saturday,I wanted to get in one more "Poodle Poppin" hunt.
Figured I would hit one of the dairy farms that has been a good producer this year for me. Arrived at the farm around noon and as I was getting geared up,the farmer drove by and gave me the "thumbs up".
Proceeded up the main lane for about 100 yds. when I spotted something gray in the field about 12 yds. away to my left. Stopped and saw it was a ghog sitting just outside it's hole. Not knowing if it saw me I sat still for a few seconds. I saw no movement so I took a look through the binos and it was sound asleep! Well needless to say it is taking a permanent dirt nap now.lol

Set off back up the lane and made a left onto another lane. Walked about 75 yds. and stopped to glass a fence row that is known to have hogs in it. Sure enough as I'm glassing,I spot one just outside it's hole keeping an eye on me. Figured the range to be about 140 yds. Put the Sightron reticle just below his shoulder and squeezed.Heard the wack and saw him roll. #2 down.

After the hero pic I made it to the knoll I wanted to shoot from. Was not there for more than five minutes when I spotted one on a rock taking in some rays. Got the Leica and pinged him at 270 yds. Got set up and sent a Sierra 39gr. BK his way and instantly saw the spray and watched him roll off his perch.

After that the clouds started to thicken and the wind picked up so I called it a day. That gave me 157 confirmed kills for the year. Short of my goal of 200 but had fun none the less. Enjoy sharing the hunts with you guys.
