One Game-Hunting Rifle -- What Would It Be?

Savage 99 in 300 savage,,,then keep the roller and td as by law they're non guns also Elsie sxs twelve ga w stub twist barrels. Non gun...they made the law not me.

30-06 can go light to heavy with off-the-shelf ammo pretty much widely available, with a wide range variable lightweight scope 25X on top.

Regards
Rick

You are allowed one rifle to hunt deer size game with for the rest of your life. It has to be a factory rifle of whatever chambering and factory configuration you want from whatever time period you want. What is it?
if you could go custom what would change?
I apologize (sort of...) for time out of your life you will never get back

Working on a 3 year old thread. Id Choose a 22" Howa Mini in 6mm ARC as the straight stock rifle. As for the custom then Id opt for a CZ 527 re-barreled from 6.5mm Grendel to 6mm ARC. Can't decide on a heavy barrel or a light barrel so I'll have to have one of each.

In a Factory Rifle, 6.5x55 in a Tikka T3.
For Deer and Antelope sized game, a Tikka T-3, in any of the LOWER Recoiling Cart's like,.. 6.5 Creed, .270 Win, 7mm-08, 6.5x55, etc. in the 7.5 Pound,.. "All up" Tikka's for, a serious and ACCURATE,.. Hunting Rifle !
LOW Recoil with, 130 to 150 grain Bullets, means that, You WILL Practice,.. MORE and, Shoot,.. BETTER !

Sako finnbear 30-06 or a sako 90 because the finnbear is an older model. A sako 90 is an easy mode solution to a forever hunting rifle.

Me and My Family shot, Tons of Deer with, 150 gr. Partitions and, Hornadys !
And we used, ole' Old Bruce Hogdon's 4895 from WW2 at,.. $.50 cents a Pound !
Those were, the Good ole' Days when, converted 1903 Springfield's and Winchester M-70's ruled, the Roost.

Rem 7 or 700 in 308.

cast bullets for small game, factory rounds available, and if the game changes, 7.62 available when dropped....

My son has only ONE GUN. He got it from me maybe 15 yrs back. He shoots prairie dogs AND deer with it.
Two or three WhiteTail fall to it each year. lts a New Haven Winchester Model 70 Coyote in 223Remington.
A beautiful varmint weight gun, lt sports a laminated stock with a blued receiver. The barrel is a stainless 24'' Wilson with 1 in 8 twist. He is not a handloader. His big game ammo is Winchester White Box 63 gr Soft Points. Prairie dog ammo is whatever is on sale. The scope is a Leupold 6-18 VX3 AO, Fine duplex w/target knobs. He says he doesn't need another rifle
