I'm old school; 30 caliber.......cutting my teeth on the 03A3 Springfield and then on to the M1 Garand. In later years I shot lots of Palma competition using the 308 Winchester cartridge and whereas I had....as well as everyone else during the day been shooting 190-200 gr. Sierra bullets the Palma rules dictated a weight of 150 gr. for International events and then a little later the Sierra 155 Palma bullet was adopted! If I had been asked whether or not 40 years ago if a 155 gr. bullet would have made a good 1000 yard projectile I would have gotten a good laugh! I would have said "No way!" Boy....was I wrong! I shot some really good scores using the Sierra 155 Palma and witnessed lots of other guys doing the same. I had the honor of coaching Nancy Tompkins out at the Whittington Center back around '94 and she fired three 20 round strings for me over a three day period from 1000 yards. With the exception of one round she fired....which she called a 9 at one o/clock all of her shots were no more than 1/2 the height of the X ring or around 5"! I shoot this same bullet here at my range and I'm not surprised at the accuracy I get with it! When Sierra designed this bullet with the angle on the BT it's got...they made a winner!
