One bottle of powder on the bench

Just a little reminder. Only keep 1 bottle of powder on the bench at a time. I always do, except yesterday. Some how, I left a new bottle of VARGET on the bench while loading 4895 for the .308. When it came time to empty the powder hopper, I poured the left over 4895 into the new bottle of VARGET. What a tragedy

Should have listened to yourself. Tommy Mc
. One at a time is a good rule !!!!

I always wondered in a situation like this: Is it ok to try and experiment with the mix? Assuming you used a very low charge of the mixture would it be safe?
Absolutely not
No matter what the load NO mixing!
The longer you do anything (reloading for example) humans tend to drift away from the rules that have kept them safe. Familiarity raises its ugly head and
next thing you know there’s a tragedy in the making.
This might not the ideal time to be screwing up and losing powder but the up side is an upsetting event, you caught it in time, and my guess is you’re back to your one powder on the bench at as time.

Your Drill Instructor would have you doing squat thrusts until he got tired :)

Yup. That'll do it. Clear the bench; clean the bench; bring out the specific load's components, just for that load; complete the loading; then put away those components when done. IOW, "keep your station clean." Was taught that with cooking, by Mom, decades ago. Has worked fairly well in the garage, shop, and loading bench. The couple occasions I failed to remember the advice ... it burned (or nearly burned) me. Can't recall blending two powders, but still. I'm sure it'll happen at some point, me being all too human.
