You can edit groups in the pay version, I.e. remove bullet holes or move them if they were not placed right the first time instead of having to delete the whole group and start over.

You can rotate the image and export the final target as a separate image.
Probably other things too but that is some of the additional functionality

just being able to delete shots is reason enough to buy IMO
There is no reason at all not to pay 12 bucks for the version which allows you to edit bullet holes.
But there is a third option for $75.
They say: "The OnTarget Target Data System program has been released. TDS can combine the shots from multiple groups and/or targets into a single virtual group. TDS will also automatically locate bulls and bullet holes on custom targets that are printed from your computer."
I tried a trial version and it's pretty cool. What they say is true. If you print and use one of their many targets, this version automatically detects and scores your bullet holes............ very cool. And it allows you to merge two 5 shot groups fired at two different targets, for example, into one 10 shot group......... also very cool.
No matter what version you choose, On Target is a great way to measure your targets and keep track of your performance. I score every one of my targets and keep all the data in a big Excel data sheet along with MV, recipe reference number, powder type, etc. If you ask me the mean radius of the fourth 5 shot group I shot on July 20th, 2015 and what powder I used, I can tell you in a few seconds. Likewise, if you ask if VV-140 produces smaller groups with 69gr bullets than does IMR 8208 XBR in my particular gun, I can tell you that too in a few seconds.
If you're chasing accuracy, you gotta' measure your data and then be able to study it in several ways as well as compare it to data gathered at a different time and place. That's hard to do with just a notebook and pencil, especially if you're gathering information on thousands of rounds.

I think most people blow $12 in a lot worse ways these days. I bought this and use it all the time. I track my group data in a spreadsheet. Make sit easy to identify issues and trends.

I've actually been trialing the OnTarget TDS software for a few days now. I'm trying to figure out how to scan one of my OCW targets in so that it can do the auto-review thing it's supposed to do.
One thing that is interesting is that you can define multiple groups on a single target (say, from testing at long range) and it will average them out as if they were shot at a single, virtual POI. It's neat, because you can look at multiple groups and say "well, I had one group that was .650 MOA, but all 6 of my groups averaged out to .439 MOA.". Not sure how useful that is as a measure, but maybe with enough data you could make some sort of correlation to average group size to "real" performance.
Or maybe it's just fun to play with it because it averaged out that damn shanked shot in one of my groups...

I am in the process of making a similar software that works natively on OSX. And I have something in works for iOS as well. Stupid medical issues are keeping me from finishing and releasing the s/w. It should be out soon and will be priced quite reasonably. I just hope it finds a small audience.
