On HBR Scopes

the Sightron 5-20X is a very nice one. I have one on a Rockchuck rifle (6-284) that works very well about as far out as I can range one...

The interesting thing about the 3-16 and 4-20 S-Tac's is that despite the size difference, they both weigh the same. I have multiples of each and they're all 23 oz.

The MOA reticles have a .250 dot at the 3X and 4X setting. The dot size on 6X is going to be larger on the 4-20 than the 3-16. Not by much...maybe a difference of 5/8" on the 3-16 to around 3/4" on the 4-20. The retcles are etched.

HBR shooters want a 15 oz. scope that gets the dog snot pounded out of it, tracks like a train on rails, doesn't shift POI, repeats, and has a lifetime warranty. Plus, if it costs more than $350, shooters will act like they're selling their first born child.

I wonder why the scope companies aren't lining up for that market.

Which brings us right back to the extra 8 oz. weight......
:)

I have not shot HBR for many years, but still have two rifles and six 6x scopes:
2 Lyman 6X which optically are nice but adjust WAY too much per click
2 Weaver KT-6's that are ok, but a bit heavy
2 Burris Minis, one with dot and one with duplex reticles. used the dot the most.

If I remember right I won the 200yd and 300yd Nationals in 1989 with the KT-6 on the rifle,
was a Rem 700 in 308 Win. No 30BRs back then.

Guess I should dig things out and shoot them some. Actually did put a new Lilja on one of the rifles awhile back. Since it was a 30 cal 14 twist I chambered it for 30 IHMSA. Wish I would have chambered for 30BR cause it shoots the bullets I shoot in my 30BR better than longer heavier bullets. OH well live and learn.
