OMG Albino Buck

I think he means it is rare to see one that is capable of reaching maturity. Many are born with other issues or anomalies that prevents normal growth. I have seen 4 in my lifetime and only one of those was, like this one, a true albino. The others were piebald deer and mostly white. Only one of those grew to be an adult normal size buck with a typical full size rack. The others stayed small in size and the ones that were bucks never grew antlers bigger than a small spike.
Now, 40 people are going to post about the solid white 16 pointers they see everyday...but around here the white deer are a genetic defect and stay small. Even rarer is one with "melanism" and very dark. Those I have only seen in pictures.

I completely understand the rarity
It was on Pete's mountain out of
Lake Oswego Oregon I saw a young buck marked like a paint horse. Only thing remotely close and only ever saw the one.

There is actually a small herd of parti-colored deer in the area around Byron, Illinois. Occasionally people report seeing pure white ones. In this case, they are not true albinos but a genetic trait. All-white deer are illegal to kill in Illinois .

I saw a black one a few years ago. I was coming back from a shoot at Williamsport and got to the bottom of the mountain and there is a Christmas tree farm. It was out feeding with a bunch of other deer. I thought at first, it was a goat. I never saw it again coming or going to the range. Matt

Have seen 4 in the wild during season in WI. One was a 9YO according to the land owner and that is very odd because they generally do not live very long. It had tall, single spikes on each side. One was a 10 point that walked by me during bow season. Pretty impressive rack and would have met the P&Y minimum easily enough. Saw 2 fawns together during late now season.

All of these deer were within 10 miles as the crow flies in Buffalo County WI.

Seen two smaller racked pieballs together, stand in median on I79 north of Pittsburgh in 2008. I've seen one pieball doe another time in the Warren pa area.
What I have a hard time understanding is why some states would outlaw shooting a genetic defect . I guess they are the same morons outlawing heat seeking bullets.
