Omega trickler tweak

I have been using my Omega trickler for some time now and am for the most part very happy with it.

BUT, I would really like to make the delivery a bit more consistent. On slow , the powder granules clump up and go from 1 grain every couple seconds to 3-4 all of a sudden. Even with the tube and the weight set for near optimum speed, the high setting still throws powder all over!

Are there any "secret" tweaks like the soda straw for the digital dispensers? Or some kind of coating for the tube or a new tube completely?

I have tried and tried to get to the "consistent" standard you are talking about. I don't think it exists. I just "put up" with it. since it does it's job VERY well...

I can get mine to have only 3-4 kernels in the tube ready to drop or get the tube filled up with kernels. To get only a couple kernels "lined up", you have to hold the slow button and just wait for them to come(seems like this takes forever). This is also done with the base set up for slow speed and the yellow piece on drop as close to the end. I never use the fast speed button. Slings powder everywhere
IIRC speed and amount of kernels in tube is affected by height of the powder hopper, how much the weighted base is turned counterclockwise in relation to the tube, and how far forward or back the yellow piece is on the tube

you just need to get it closer to being level so the powder comes out single-threaded. I did this for a bit, but then the problem is the powder dispenses too slow when you need to trickle up quite a bit. So, it's always a compromise: adjust it to dispense one at a time but it will be incredibly slow or make it faster with some clumping from time to time. the only real solution I have ever seen to the clumping problem is with the Prometheus scale. It has a trickler that only alllows one at a time and clumps overflow and spill into a waste pan. Without that kind of a system, I'm not sure you will ever solve the problem completely. No matter, I'm quick pulling out an extra kernel or two with my fingers. :-)

I squeezed the sides of the tip together so the powder kinda funnels into single file kernels. Not perfect, but better than it was. I also keep a pointed scribe handy and drag a kernel or two off the tip when needed. It takes some time to catch onto it, so don't be afraid to try different things so you can make it work to your needs and liking.

On mine I tap the button intermittently instead of holding it down. Seems to make dispensing kernals quite a lot more consistent. Also as mentioned above, the level of the tube matters a lot.

+1 and putting a piece of tape around the end inhibits the powder from clumping up.

This is fantastic!

Collectively, you guys have supplied a bunch of solutions that, combined, are sure to make all of our Omegas better!
Thank you all!
