Oldest powder and primers

Found this can under some leaves behind my barn, used to be an old dump. Bottom of can says July 1924. On the upper left is a price that says $1.10. Back in the good ole days.o_O

Used up my pull-down powder years ago. Still have an 8 lb 'keg' of Green Dot from the late '70's and a metal can 8 lb of IMR4064 from about that same time frame.

Never had any issues shooting primers and powders from the mid-60's. I did have a 1 lb. can of DuPont IMR 4350 go bad after around 12 years, and it was much newer production (early 80's). Just check the powder for acidic odor instead of solvent.

I have an old round metal can of 760, everything else is newer production. The 760 is fine, although I have no way to date it.

Like my stash

I am currently using pre-Clinton primers and year old powder. My pre-Obama primers will likely start getting used in about 3-5 years. Is anyone else amused by the standard of measuring the age of a firearm or components by presidential elections?

I know it's a sad state of affairs, but come on, you gotta appreciate the humor in it.

No? Fine, I'll be quiet

Still have some pre-Reagan powder and primers, they still work as they did in Jimmy Carters time. AL-7, WW --AA powders, primed paper shotshells.
