Older savage 110 j series

Traded into an older J series 110 s in 308, shot today and it really wanted to shoot 168s and 150s my prob is the trigger my question is could an accutrigger be used in this gun I know it still wouldnt be a benchrest trigger but 16 oz would be nice instead of 2+ lbs just chkn it not an airloom or a collectors item so just trying to keep cost down amap. thanks in advance for the replys.

I dont know anything about the model you have, but ive used mcarbo trigger springs in a few savages i have. They made a big difference.

The best available trigger is the Jard. They eliminate the wonky factory bolt release/sear lash up.

You can get those early triggers down to 1.5 lb pretty easily with some shims and patience.

I'm not sure that the AccuTrigger will get you down to 16oz.
The red blade might.
Even the Rifle Basix I believe is set for a higher weight than that.
But either way is a huge improvement in the feel of the trigger.
Both do away with the spring steel paperclip type of the factory spring.

You can adjust the factory spring. And it's self is a huge improvement over the lawyer setting from the factory tension.

An accutrigger wont work on it without some fitting work. It would need a small hole drilled under the safety slide for the accutrigger spring to sit in, and possibly a newer safety mechanism.
Or you can drop in a Rifle Basix SAV1 for about $100. Eabco has them on sale for 95 often. It goes down to 1.5lb.
The factory trigger can be adjusted. If it’s a 3 screw trigger it’ll go down to 1.5-2 with some work. (1)Change the wire on the side to a .040 piano wire and bend to fit. (2)Back off the wire adjustment screw till there’s just a slight tension on the wire.(3)adjust sear adjustment till it trips, then add a 1/4-1/2 turn.(4)adjust overtravel screw.(5)adjust safety screw.(5)test multiple times to make sure it doesn’t trip.(6) add small dab of non permanant loktite on all screws.
