Old sporter rifles still shoot!

I've been trying to get back to position shooting and spending a couple night a week at the 50' indoor range.
Mostly it's been with my Martini MK2 or Remington 40x.
I had took a new shooter and brought along my old Remington 341-P with peep sights as it was lighter and just a plinking gun. With a big old rear peep aperture and a post front the groups were pretty impressive considering considering the light gun and the not match grade trigger.and with cheap ammo to boot!20220207_192652.jpg20220207_192726.jpg

They sure do. I have Remington 510P that was made several years prior to the Federal serial number requirement. Despite the zillion pound trigger at 25 yards it shots tiny little groups. Under a dime is normal with Rem Golden HP. I would love to see how it would group at 50 it's with a scope and real trigger. I think the barrel is excellent.

My old sporter will keep up with most anything new, plus it still looks sharp.

I think they are great, this is an older Tbolt from the mid to late 1960s. The only improvement that it needs is a better trigger. A friend of mine has a lefty in the next higher grade (upgraded stock) , it is a shooter as well.

That's great.... Ya know I have my grandmother's old .22 I grew up shooting and it over 60-70 years must have a new cars worth of .22 rounds through it.... I actually cleaned it very very well a few years ago and could feel what all those rounds had done to the barrel.... It's nuts because it still shoots great... It's a semi automatic and the only thing is it broke a firing pin once.... I wonder if all the nice .22 I have bought over the years will last as long.... I seriously doubt it , they will at least me though at this point...
