Old school stock.....

Just finished up a old 1908 Mauser Mannlicher stock.
Inletted checkered and oiled finish..
Going to have a 9.3x62 barreled action setting in the full length bedding job..
Hopefully the gentleman that owns it will take it to Africa in the near future..

Yesssssss, it is! Not to brag, or anything, but I traded a Mauser 98 bolt I paid $50 for for that blank. Preacher found the innate beauty, and his craftsmanship is evident.
And yes, Lord willing, it will go to RSA next Spring.

That is absolutely beautiful !!!!! You are a true craftsman, utmost respect sir.Anybody ever seen a Hickory stock ? Hickory is in the same genre as walnut and pecan . Pignut hickory would be the stiffest, but shagbark (scaleybark) could work also . Black locust would be interesting also . It is iridescent and turns a beautiful honey gold color with age. It is also rot resistant and stiff .
