Old Ruger .22 pistol

Mine is the 6 1/2" version and is an excellent pistol - reliable and accurate. Never shot magnums out of it but with CCI standard velocity ammo mine will hold a sloppy 10 ring at 25 yards off sandbags.

Very durable pistol - should last several lifetimes if you take care of it. A great field gun you don't have to "baby'.

Since I have large hands, I replaced the factory stocks with Packmyer rubber stocks which, while now pleasing to look at, improved my ability to shoot the pistol a lot. I also installed a Wolf spring kit which helped a lot.

While, in my opinion, the S&W Model 17 is the greatest 22 rimfire pistol ever designed, the Ruger Single Six is a close second for a field pistol.

Mine is the 6 1/2 version too. I've fired some magnums thru it, but mostly 22 lr. I've busted alot of bottles, cans and clay birds over the years.

I have a few 3 screw Blackhawks and a Super BH to go along with my Single Six convertible from 1970. They don't build guns like this anymore!

Nice revolver!

In about 1978 or so I traded a Charter Arms Undercover and a little cash for a new 5 ½” Single Six Convertible. It came with mismatched grips. It was never accurate, at least not in my hands. I could shoot other revolvers much more accurately. After a few years of ownership in an effort to try to improve accuracy I had a scope installed. This did not improve my shooting at all and added to the bulk so I removed the scope. Ever since that time it has an ugly threaded hole in the middle of the top strap. I wish I had not done that.

I still have it but hardly ever shoot it.

Nice. I have a couple 1980's Blackhawks. I used to live in Connecticut ( I know, but hey...) and on more than one occasion in my local gun store, saw a pile of mint Ruger pistols being sold. Ruger ( manufactured in Connecticut ) apparently gave a pistol to employees - one per year. So, a retired employee non-shooter might unload 15-30 pistols in one go at a gun shop. Honestly, I saw some amazing pistols.
Bought 2.
.41 Rem mag and .357 Mag. Never fired. well, once.
Winchester, Ruger, Colt - all were made in Connecticut at one time.
