Old Mcmillan stock

I was at my local gunsmith the other day and he had a stock there that he said in the gun discription when he got the gun claimed it was a mcmillan.. but an older one.... it was a remington 722 action... however the stock was for a single shot action and someone glass bedded a follower into it to be used with a repeater action... now the paint was fairly screwed up and chipped... and the glass bedding in it was ( i am by no means an expert/pro) but it was a crappy job... i do not see any where that says mcmillan on it... i could get it bought for 75 because its going to take so much work... do you guys think it is worth it/ the work that it will need? Info/ opinions would be greatly appreciated

Spike A,

Usually the best assessment from the members is when you supply pictures for us to view the condition or lack thereof. A description helps but there is literally no substitute for pictures as it eliminates guesswork.:)

I figured that after I got home :(... I think I’m going to pick it up today either way.. than I’ll get some pictures up

Examine stock for any hairline cracks, if it has none, grab it. Paint can always be redone as well as a fresh bedding job. I have a 36 yr. old Hunter class stock that looks horrible but still shoots great. McMillen has been making excellent glass stocks for years.
