I agree. My wife and I were thinking ketchup also. It appears to not have a threaded top so I'm assuming the cap must have been a press on cap?It's not very old. I think it's catsup. jd

If it's not very big, like 6 oz or so, I have seen bottles like that which came with a snap on plastic cap that was used to fill with vinegar to make for instance, an oil and vinegar salad, or to sprinkle vinegar on fish and chips.

Yes Sir, those bottles with the red still in them used to be bomb for tossing in the air and shooting with a revolver. I remember even old gun writers legends like Bill Jordan talk about doing that.Looks like a target to me.
