OK, all you old farts.........

That's "Mr. Old Fart" to you, just because I'm a year older than you are.
I have some of the same problems with eyesight and my arms aren't long enough to read anything without glasses. I use scope mounted levels that seem to work well, are easily adjusted, and can be mounted to either side.

Dollar store has everything you need. I have a drawer full that looks like old Fred Sandfords, all for a buck

Had the idea of magnifier in top of lenses years back for BE pistol comp.
All I want is ONE pr of lenses. I cant see $60 + for multiple sets of colors etc from SSP. They would prob sell quite a few if they'd go to a single set.

Knoblock shooting glasses. one lens for shooting and other eye with close up lens for reading level, with a flip up eye cover to shoot.

Eye Protection is Safety First .
73 years old eyes here. Up until Sept. this year shot Palma iron sights …..Health Problems ?
Always had glass to see my sights and Target . Use them now for F-Class .
My set up Glass Frames for shooting prone ( very important ).
Best Eye Doctor in Town ( you have to ask Questions ).
Main Shooting eye Lens to see thru scope , now at 4:30 to 5:00 on that lens a Bi-Focal to : see level , Turrets , Tablet ( e- Targets ) etc.

Happy Shooting
.

Ok....what do the Old Farts want for Xmas besides new underwear?....and permission for one more gun.
Ben
OK, since you asked, this "Old Fart" wants those who hate the second amendment to cease their constant propaganda against lawful gun ownership, the demise of those irresponsible felons who give the many responsible gun owners a bad name, eye site to shoot another year even if I need some help, and permission to buy 2 or 3 more guns.

By the way, who wears underwear any more?

OK, here it is but since all words are misunderstood don't get offended. About the turret, if you don't know what it does on the rifle your shooting maybe find another hobby. Left right up down count the clicks. If you can't see the turrets you probably lost your car in the parking lot. Bubble level prone or bench just more stuff to hang on your rig. Good for hunting. Everyone I know who sets targets staples them level. Match scope to target. Glasses, use your computer glasses focus your scope with them on that's it. Bifocals forget it.Too many planes. So Merry Christmas. Keep shooting, if your eyes can be corrected with surgery that might be the answer.

Thought I would fit a bubble level to my new to me F-Class rig. Switch barrel 6mmBR / 284 Winchester Barnard actioned 30" kreiger barrels.
So my 66 year old eyes ain't what they used to be and i use 1.25 reading glasses for up close stuff which would explain why the bubble level no matter where I hang it on the picaninny is a blur.

I don't particulary want to wear glasses when using the scope but I can't think of another way. I tried the 1.25 strength lense which didn't help so would need to go up in power but what does that do to the reticle and distant target picture?

Recommendations please.

My 72 yr old eye's suck (when young, my vision was great at better than 20/20). Now I need bifocals and have early stages of cataracts (too early for doctor to approve lens replacement). So, when shooting I don't use my bifocals, but put on glasses that where I can see my level (and maybe be able to read some things at the right distance). When not shooting, I switch back to my bifocals. Yeah, it's a hassle.

The power you use when looking through a scope really doesn't effect anything as you adjust the reticle clarity with the ocular lens. The reticle will not change unless you move the scopes power ring. As long as you get the reticle focused to being clear (whether no glasses at all or what magnification) it's not going to have an effect on what you see. So, using the reticle for distance adjustments will not be affected.

The power you use when looking through a scope really doesn't effect anything as you adjust the rectal clarity with the ocular lens. The rectal will not change unless you move the scopes power ring. As long as you get the rectal nice and clear (whether no glasses at all or what magnification) it not going to have an effect on what you see. So, using the rectal for distance adjustments will not be affected.

OK, who's going to tell him:eek:.
