OHAUS M5 -505 DIFFERENCE

That is interesting, my father purchased one about a year after I did and it was identical to mine. I see yours was also made in Florham Park, N.J. Curious as to when they made the change.
I have the original carton and paperwork it came with so I'll have a look for any date clues.....stand by....
1974 it seems.....from the coding at the bottom right of the warranty and manual.

Purchased this scale when I first started reloading in 1970, used it until 6 years ago when I got into 1000 yd Benchrest and determined I needed to load to the hundredth of a grain to stay with the big boys. Since then I have had it tuned by Scott Parker and it still comes into play loading all of my hunting ammo. This one was one of the ones from Florham Park, N.J. Don't remember exactly what I paid for it, I think it was in the $30. dollar range. What a great value and wonderful product.

This two poise scale would be more commonly know as the RCBS 502 scale. The original 505 that the OP was referring to looks similar to a RCBS 10/10.

Isn't the single grain/0.10 grain adjustments quite a bit different? I have an RCBS 1010 and don't really care for the adjustment. If you are close to another 10 grain adjustment, say at 59 and going to 60 you have to spin the adjustment a long way. The 505 is a whole lot faster and easier to adjust. I can't speak to accuracy of them.
Yes, the 1010 poise is different, same as my late 80s RCBS 510, but the scale bases are essentially the same. Some like the slide, some like the dial, they both work.

Scales in my prior post were manufactured in 1974 for the 1010 and 1970 for the 505 and I have the original manuals and boxes as well.
