Where can I buy one for 22 LR?
Find a fired .223 case. It may already be squared up at the neck mouth but if you have access to a case trimmer, give it a skim cut. Drop your .22lr round in and measure the rim against the neck mouth.
Works great. Get your reference off the case length.
That's not what he is wanting to do..
don't feel bad.. i read a response on another board and made basically the same mistake..Roger that. My bad. It's been a long day.![]()

Have you had any luck?Where can I buy one for 22 LR?
Very, very interesting. Great shooting too by the way.I made one. I didn’t understand the ones for sale. That is the engineer in me.
I ran a 22 lr reamer into a piece of aluminum but stopped about .150” short.
Since the bore was not rifled,The lead on my reamer cut a smooth taper.
Drop a round in and the first band on the Bullets stops on the taper. This would be where it engages the rifling in my barrel. The very back of the round is where my bolt would be. So now I can measure a true length of ogive/rifling to bolt face.
this is a rim fire version of a Frank Green Bullet comparator.
I have the gauge/round on a flat plate and pull it under an “last word” style indicator.
150 rounds of SK match had a .008” spread. Three were real short and 17 were way above .008”
Now to test. 10 shot groups at 50 on a baffled outdoor range. Myers action, Shilen barrel, McMillan stock, Leupold 45 comp - off a one piece rest. Gun built by Ed Shilen.
Had an 800-23x last weekend on F Class targets (2 @ 50 and 2 @ 100. I used Lapua Mides sorted.
Interesting point came out during my ogive measuring. Two rounds .015” difference in base to ogive had the same overall length. how can that be? Different Bullets ?
