offset wide forend

I am going to make a 3 inch wide forearm plate for one of my field guns. I saw a custom stock with the front offset all the way over and can't remember where. Is there any advantage to having a offset stock fore end ?
If there is what side would you have the barrel set to ? Does anyone know where it would be pictured ?

With a right twist the offset is the barrel hard over to the right. Far to right of the center line with the barrel may be a better way to explain it, all from looking at the rifle as if you were aiming it.
The advantage is to counter the torque of the rifle when fired. With a 6.5x284 it seemed to make a difference to me but I have NO scientific evidence to back this up. Then again, if I feel it helped, good for me. Then again still, it is in a cartridge I don't care to shoot so even the slightest improvement is a big help to me.

Alternatively to offsetting the barrel channel, is to "drop" the barrel channel so that the barrel is moved downward and closer to the front rest bag. Lowering the barrel this way, serves to mitigate "torque" just like "offsetting" the barrel channel. However, I doubt that the "3-inch platform offset" that you propose will be that effective, because of the narrow forearm width? The benchresters generally are using a much wider floor plate to mitigate torque. Attached are some ideas for F-Open forearm "drop-kit" attachment on a 3"-wide forearm.

I have a stock that is offset one inch to the right. It's good theory but it doesn't work in the bags? It does not track. Seems to move the rear bag to the left.

I made a torque tab for my KRG 223, put the barrel all the way to the right then recessed a bubble level in the back of the left side. I shot it today and it seems to shoot about the same. I do like the bubble where it is. The factory Remington action seems easier to work in the bags now.
