Off topic Dogs Let's see your pets

My sister’s dog Oliver. In this photo, he’s asleep on the left side of the live seat. His favorite spot is the right side of the couch. One time he was there and my brother in law told him to get up. He did, and laid down in his dog bed. After a couple of minutes, Oliver got up and rang the little bell at the back door; that’s how my sister’s dogs let people know they need to go potty. John got up to open the door and Oliver ran over to the couch to claim his spot again. That blew my mind. I love dogs, but I don’t want to attribute human qualities to them. Sometimes, though. Sometimes I wonder what is going on in their heads.

This is Tawny, a real clown my best pal who will be 6 in June. She’s a smart Border Collie mix with a recessive yellow gene. She loves to hunt with me and as a former lease operator she would ‘bloodhound’ deer that had died in the thick Texas Hill Country scrub like she was born to do that. Also, She will actually watch the television and remembers commercials with other animals and will charge into the room at the first sounds of a commercial which later shows the critter she likes to bark at. I find that amazing. I have decided to find her a companion and April will be her last heat cycle to try and find a herding/similar breed sire before I change that for good and adopt.

Still loves frisbee and she’s a real aerialist when catching. I prefer to stalk my quarry but if she wants to hunt from a blind I’m good with it!

Dora's Dexter Dolittle. European Basset. Look us up on Facebook...Dolittle Bassets.
uh oh, our household might need expanding after seeing this! My wife and I have talked about getting a Basset for quite a while...

When we were visiting Assisi Italy a few years ago, I heard a big bark in the square below our apartment windows. I peeked out, and then pretty much threw myself down three flights of stairs to make friends (using my halting Italian and Google Translate on speakerphone) with the man and his beautiful Basset. During our week-long stay there, I saw them a few more times, usually during the afternoon when the locals come out to socialize. And on our day of departure for the airport, there he was, with his dog, and I walked over to say goodbye, shake his hand, and pat that bello Basset one more time.IMG_20181002_160451.jpg

I have always had a soft spot for Beagles. Daddy always had a pack of them while I was growing up.
Had one that was a 'retriever". He managed, on more than one occasion, to separate out a baby skunk from the litter and bring them home without any harm. And he never got sprayed. needless to say I had a pet skunk after defumigation.

While I enjoy long range shooting about 5 years I got this Lab . If it flys he will retrieve . House pet , companion , hunting partner only time we are separated is my range time. And I hate to say the pro trainer that worked with this dog offer him a place on her truck for Field Trials . I thought long and hard and refused the offer as it was very hard training for 6 months without him .God gave me a good wife ,a good dog and a roof over my head and my belly full of food . I can't ask for any more.View attachment 1243337View attachment 1243339View attachment 1243340View attachment 1243341

They love us unconditionally. Protect us without boundaries. Steal our hearts. Keep our secrets.
