Off the wall non precision peculiar pistol projectiles

Say that title 3 times fast. So since pistol primers are easier to come by and somewhat cheap(ish), I decided to burn a few on a Sunday afternoon. Broke out my bullet molds and cast a few hot glue bullets. Yep, hot glue. Pushed them with nothing but a primer in 9mm and 38spl. Minute of 8.5x11 paper at 10ft. Id recommend drilling flash hole larger on the revolver brass. No it didn't cycle in the 9mm pistol. I guess we could call it trigger control training. Seated them with nothing but thumb pressure, no flare and no crimp. I think I've shot the 38 about 5 times now and still reusing it. Nice rifling marks on it. Wont go through card board at that distance but a card board box will make a trap. They also don't cut clean holes in paper.

I never thought about hot glue. That is interesting.

I have used paraffin wax and a LRM primer (no powder, just the primer) to make practice rounds for my 44 mag with similar results. I just heated up a case, pushed it in a 1/2" think paraffin block, loaded and shot. They were surprisingly accurate for the 7 yds I was using them for.

Cheap hot glue from the local resale store to benefit the local animal shelter. Reusable for several times. It's pouring the rain here so I'm in front of my basement under the porch. Maybe Fiocchi will bring back those lead free primers and one could bring it indoors.

How do you keep the glue from sticking in mold?.. I think I would like to try this

One stuck and required some force from my thumb to remove. I made them just taller than the mold and did not close the sprue plate as they shrink some as they cool. At least that's the experience I have with my glue. Well the glue I stole out of my wife's crafty crap anyway. My molds are lee 6 cavity aluminum.

I did the same thing but drilled out the cases to take shot gun primers.

Speaking of off the wall, I tried this a few years ago and shot them in my basement at about 20 feet. One of them just missed my carboard box bullet trap and hit the wall and bounced back in my direction. It did not hit me or do any kind of damage to anything but I quit at that point.

Outside might be fun and a lot safer!

I tried this yesterday with 38 cases, but stuck several in the barrel. It was my 158/358 mold. So I quit. Today stopped by the hardware store and bought a 124/358 mold and a 90/356
I’m gonna tell ya with 90 grain mold this thing is lethal!…. Goes through paper target and 3 and 4 layers of cardboard. Shot a couple 124’s but target needed replaced and I had other work to do. Hoping the 124’s will hold up in one heavy box.

P.S this is STUPID!…. And addictive

I really enjoy it. My longest barrel so far is 4.5 in. I have yet to stick one.

Speer makes plastic bullets ,fired from a plastic case powered by a small pistol primer. They come in .38 and .44.

We used to shoot X-ring rubber bullets in the garage, same idea using just a primer and paper target. Lots of fun !

I've done it with ear plugs before in a .38 special They don't fly worth a damn and certainly won't go through a cardboard box.

They still make those? I remember seeing them in the 80's. The "bullet" slipped onto the "case" which had a reduced area for insertion into the bullet. As I recall, they were in 38Spl. Probably other calibers as well, but that's what I remember seeing. Never used them myself.
