Thanks for the opinions, no names mentioned but our club has recently had a club member become disoriented at main line, not responding to RSO line calls, my main concern is safety of others, at what point does a fuctional narcotics pain user become a liability.
If someone is using a narcotic, regardless of the circumstances, they have absolutely no business on the firing line. Sorry, but I didn't survive twenty six years in the Army just to get popped at the range because someone was on narcotics, legal or not.

So do you want to lock all us broken old folks up somewhere so you'll be safe?
I'm not on your side on this one as I'm a medicated Competitor and RSO and I watch the Ready Line and beyond because that's where stupid meets Murphy most of the time.
No, I don't want to lock anyone up ........... unless they deserve it

But I have to stand by my comment. There are always exceptions to everything but let's be honest here. We are talking about the person who is taking some drug(s) illegally or a person on a narcotic pain killer and those folks don't belong on a public range firing line. I just turned 68 and have beat my body up pretty well over the years but there are just too many drugs that should not be mixed with public shooting ranges. It's hard enough to keep alert for some young guy who thinks he is Rambo. Not all ranges have RSO's and self awareness is fine but we don't need anymore preventable accidents. I say that both functionally as well as politically. In any regard, be safe and enjoy life my friend.
