Similar, but a different cartridge. Not interchangeable although loads nearly are. (The 7X64 predates the 280 by several decades introduced way back in 1917 IIRC.) It's always been popular in continental Europe especially its home country Germany. It's also seen an uptick in interest in the UK in recent years.

No. The 7X64mm Brenneke was introduced in 1917, decades before the .280 Remington.

Turned out these 7X64mm Brenneke cases aren't factory new or NS so I passed on these at the asking price. But big thumbs-up to Snert for chasing the details after I expressed interest!

I have weatherby brass 4 different calibers which can be resized to one caliber, nobody seems to want them which is odd.

I was remiss in not posting that I was pretty sure the brass was traded in for goods and was being sold as fired brass. It didn't look bad, and besides, I was busy ducking out of the way of guys hopping on one leg yelling "Owww!" for some strange reason.. But I was able to get to the front and buy powder...
