OCW reading target

I tried the Newberry's ocw test
how would you read this target
according to newberry target #5 would be the one
to work with If Iam understanding himUntitled.jpg

I t has been a decade or two since I tried his method. Back when I started, it was the only method.
Now, I would concentrate either on #1 (22.8 and 23.0) or on #4
I am curious to hear what the experts will say

The idea for the next step is to identify where the center of two or three groups are in the same location on the target. Targets 2, 3, and 4 are a possibility. Pick target 3 and do seating depth testing.

You look at average point of impact for each group and compare that for each charge. 22.9 and 23.1 have the same basic POI so the OCW should be in that range. As @ASD9055 noted you could look on either side slightly of that range but quite honestly it looks like 23 is the number.

What bullet/rifle? I'm curious as I'm working on 77gr NCC in a 16" AR.

It is a 62 gn. mfjbt out of a 16 inch AR

OCW is much clearer results at longer ranges than 100 yards. The POI on all of your first four groups is about the same. 5 starts moving to the right. I would use 23.0 and do a seating lenght test. start at mag length 2.255 and push back 0.005" at a time . See which depth gives you the smallest roundest group with least vertical dispersion. Once you pick that shoot groups at that length at 22.9-23.0-23.1 If you are in the sweet spot, they will print on top of each other.

All that aside - tuning 62 FMJBT in a 16" gas gun will have other limitations than the load which may have more of an effect on your results than OCW determined at 100 yards. Do not expect to get a lot better than where your groups are now. 10 shot groups will be about 3 times this group size.
