I look at today’s poll, not as many spending money as I would have figured. May be bad math skills or afraid the Mrs. might see it.

I see lots of comments on rifles shooting .3-.4 group, yet not many spending money on guns, accessories etc. A rifle shooting a .3-.5 group once or twice, doesn’t make it that absolute tack driver when most times it is an honest 1.0 day in and day out.
Bad math skills may lead to not measuring groups right.

I have one of those rulers for measuring fish...........

I either can’t load or shoot well. Maybe it is the scope or the rifle, may also be the bedding. Or possibly a bad barrel or crown, could be the dreaded carbon ring.
Some times I wonder why I even bother with this sport. I have a “few” rifles. Out of that few there are maybe two or three that will run in the .3’s on demand. The rest are honest 1” or a smidge under or over, but very usable.

None of these three shot groups, let’s see five or more, then we will talk.

So who is spending under $1k a year and has a “few” rifles that all shoot sub 1/2” groups@ 100?

Forget who said it maybe Jeff Cooper, “it ain’t bragging IF you can do it”.

You win i guess. Gotta pay to play

Dusty, I don’t chase a lot of the magical gidgets gadgets or magic bullets, but I still drop a lot more than I thought.
Heck on a rifle glass this year I am at $3500 and that isn’t figuring, odds and ends, pieces and parts.

And no I am by no means rich, five digit income is it.

I have ate a lot of ramin noodles and hotdogs to get what I want.

One "Full-Blown" F-Open rifle built with top quality components with an excellent scope on top will be about $5-6000 bucks give or take a little if you buy / build from new. Add components for a FULL year's worth of load development / competition and travel 3-4 times per year to a competitive event>>> how much have you spent? If you have 3-4 rifles ALL ALREADY bought and paid for, then spinning up 2-3 barrels per year PLUS the components and travel to events>>>it adds up quickly!
Like I always say: "Have you ever seen a U-Haul being towed behind a Hearse"?

My initial point being there seems to be a lot of excellent shooting rifles out there. Yet folks that took the poll on today’s bulletin spend very little, and from the looks of it spend little time at the range.........

I will admit to spending less time at the range myself. However I have learned a few things over the years. There still seems to be a stubborn rig every once in a while though. Maybe better equipment but I reach a success point quicker than I use too.
Guys talk about cheap or budget builds. My last one I THOUGHT was a cheap budget build cost me close to $2000. The feeling came from spreading it out over a period of time. Get the sharp pencil out and it adds up.

Hammerjack, that’s what I am talking about. The rig does it on demand I take it.

I had a hunk of target like that, ex threw it away just a piece of paper. Had it on the fridge like a little kid. I should have clear tapped it up. Rifle is a rig built by a local smith for himself,223, he passed away before he ever shot it. Early single shot savage action, forget the #, savage built these to compete with the 40x, so I was told.

Don’t forget $45 each per wind flag cause if you cant read conditions a million dollar rifle is useless,
