Ocassional sticking case in my chamber question

So it seems that i'm ocassionally experiencing an ocassional stuck case in my chamber that won't eject. It's seems to be most prevalent with my win brass reloads, however i've been recently observing a few with my Privi blue box factory ammo. Dosen't seem to be an over pressure situation because i'm experiencing this even with conservitive charged casings. Do you guys polish the neck after chamfering ? I feel a slight lip on the mouth of the casing and thus far did nothing aboiut it. My most recent 20 ct run I took some fine emery and polished the neck. Shot this ammo and didn't have any issues. My rem700 .308 is fairly new with about 200 rounds fired thus far. Do new rifles sometimes have this issue ? Thanks in advance for the input .

Can you post a few pics of the cases that got stuck. Is the chamber leaving any marks on the cases?

If you want help, you need to give more info - caliber, rifle, how you clean your brass, photos...

He said, "My rem700 .308 is fairly new with about 200 rounds fired thus far." ...

But nothing else is clear...

Do the cases not extract - or do they extract but not eject - this is a very vague question.

Sorry for the lack of precise details. I'm have bolt extraction issues. Occasionally I need to thump the bolt handle rearwards a few times to get the casing unjammed. Seems to be a very random issue. I can pinpoint any consistencies at this time. As for my brass prep, I tumble with corn cobb, trim as needed, chamfer inside and out, and been running 2.800" coal. There is always discolorations on my brass' necks, and was wondering if you guys polish the necks to a clean surface. I don't have a pic of a stuck casing, but I will definately snap a pic of the next stuck casing.

Share one of loads that is sooting the neck as it sounds possibly way to light and that will filthy the neck and body area up quick.

A couple of other possibilities to consider is whether or not you're getting all the sizing lube off of the cases once their loaded and ready for the ammo box, and; whether, at some prior point in time, you developed some form of chamber interference (wax deposits from lube residue, carbon deposits - especially in the throat area, etc.) This past week I found an almost microscopic piece of plastic (that had apparently broken lose from the tip of a bore guide) in the freebore of one of my rifles.
Personally, I avoid emery paper for cleaning brass - I prefer 000 or 0000 steel wool.

The reason I asked about cleaning method is you mentioned “a slight lip on the mouth of the casing”.

The only time I have run across this is cleaning brass with SS-media with regular load of pins and too many pieces of brass which cause the lips to peen (roll back) and it can get bad enough you can feel it with your finger nail.

You obviously don’t use SS-media as you use the traditional corn cob method so that is not it, but still if your neck has a lip on it, it may be the cause of your problem with extraction and also perhaps the case neck discoloration. I am at a loss as to how the brass was made that way in the first place, and although you can of course polish that lip off but IMHO you need to figure out what is causing that in the first place since that is more of a symptom.

Do you full length size or just neck size?

You stated a few with factory ammo?

All of the Remington's that I have seen with failure to extract problems were cured with a chamber polishing. I have seen a few 300 Wins and a couple of 308's but its been a few years. I would inspect the fired brass for marks left by a rough chamber / tooling marks.

I'm using RCBS "FL die set" p/n 15501 group A , i'm assuming the FL means "Full Length" ? I'm a fairly new hand loader so not 100% sure...

Yes, Full Length indeed. Do you have someone in the area that is an experienced handloader? Handloading is serious business. It would be great if you could get a mentor to take you through the proper procedures. It sounds like you may have a chamber that could benefit from some polishing - or a dozen other things. As Jon said, a picture of the case would be helpful. What reloading manual(s) are you using for reference?

Clean a piece of brass up with steel wool and reinsert it then tell us or show us what marks are being transferred..

My neighbor purchased a Remington VLS in 22-250 that was shaving brass off the case head..A bit of trimming and FL sizing and the gun shoots well..
