OAL gauge question

The Hornady,stoney point) OAL gauge, can this be used on a once-fired case that is not tapped for the gauge? Can't find one in 260 so until it's avail is there a way I can still check for OAL using one of my cases if I modify it in some way?

It would have to be drilled and tapped for the extension tool. If the .260 is not available, you might order a .308 or 7mm-08 and neck it down to .260 and then expand the case mouth so as to allow the bullet to slide in and out. I made one for my 6 X 47 Shehane from a 6.5 X 47 Lapua by this method. I hope this helps. Bill
