Number of shooters

The daily bulletin and other parts of 6BR.com show alot of 600 yrd matches, how big are these matches as in number of guys/gals or number of guns per match?
The last varmint match i went to had 72 guns in it which was not really a big match. Next months match will be pushing 90 to 100 guns. I have been to Pennsylvania for a couple different matches with a minimum of 40 shooters. There are varmint matches from the middle of the U.S. to the east coast.
What i'm getting at is there is not much if any coverage about varmint matches on this site and alot of the guns used are 6brs factory and custom. What gives?

Well, 60 some people have looked at this with no answers as of yet on how big a 600 yard or even the 1000 yard matches are. Does anybody go to them?
I'm not trying to do any bashing of the sport, heck i would love to shoot one of the matches if there where any in this part of country, just trying to figure out why all the coverage on it when there is alot of action in varmint matches and no coverage? Maybe nobody realises how many high dollar bench guns are on the firing line at these matches?

I am not sure what your point is. I shoot F-class and Mid Range Prone. Most matches run at range capacity here in Minnesota. Average is about 60 shooters, which amounts to 3 relays of 20 shooters. Four relays of shooters creates much longer matches.

Well, I guess I am not sure what a "Varmint" match is? Tell me what one of those actually is.

I shoot NRA Prone MR and LR matches. A local match might have 25-35 shooters. A regional (depending on how popular the match is) could have anywhere from 60-80 shooters. That would include sling as well as F and FTR class shooters.

The only "Varmint" matches I am aware of would be short range benchrest matches or 600 yd BR matches. Local events, they are lucky to get 20 shooters. National events are much better attended but they only have one of those a year.

I shoot F-TR in our matches in Louisiana. Around 40 show up for a regular event, our big events usually max out.

3 sets of 20 shots, 60 for record in the match.

Never heard of a "Varmit' Match, will have to depend on you to tell us about this!

I am looking to venture out and shoot in more F-Class matches.

The best way to get coverage of your matches is to take pictures and write a description of the match. You can even submit these stories to this site by emailing Mailbox@6mmBR.com It only takes initiative by one person for attention to be given.

I have emailed Paul a couple of times with match details pictures score and so forth and usually in the next few days its in the daily bulletin. He is always looking for new content but you have to send it to him.

Guessing; could these Varmint Matches be what some know as Groundhog Matches with targets like these?:

Our High Power matches have a mix of 40% F-ers/60% Slingers and the crowd runs from 24 to 60 people.

Those targets are similar to what we shoot, at the ground-hog matches that I attend. Except, the WHOLE ground-hog is black, with white inside the scoring rings. In other words, don't even think about seeing your hits at 500 yards if they are not in the scoring rings, or on the target outside of the hog. Also, no spotting scopes allowed at this match either. It makes for a very interesting, competitive and fun shoot. I love it !

35-40 participants are common.
