NSX 3.5-15x50 or 5.5-22x50 NPR1

Scope decision to place order tomorrow. Will mount on the Tikka M595 .308 for mid-range maybe hunt wit it. Am thinking the 3.5-15 will be adequate, helpful experiences with either would be appreciated. Thanks Bear Basin has either in stk anyone have experience with them?

good choice in reticle. I went with the 5.5-22x50 for both Fclass and for hunting purposes. Works well for both. I'm pleased. Heck i can always turn it down to 15 if i want, but I don't ;).

I have bought from them before.

If you are in Cali. don`t order until Wednesday, they have a deal where you don`t pay sales tax on Wednesday`s on anything over $999.00.

Call them and verify day and if promotion still exists.

I've got both.

The physical size is the all but the same on both, so I'd base my pick on the importance of 3.5 or 5.5 on the low side. I'll usually take more power (with in reason) every time.

So with target work getting the bulk of the duty, with maybe a little hunting, I'd run the 5.5-22x50.

With good scope mounting and eye relief on a proper fitting rifle, I have never had a problem quickly finding game in my scopes at 5X or even a little higher. Go with the 5.5X in my opinion. Practice rifle mounting while looking at an object to make sure the rifle/scope fits well and you won't notice the extra 2X at the lower end, even in hurried hunting situations. You will appreciate the extra power on the high end.

What does "within reason" mean? I saw a scope that went to 42X and another that went to 30X and another that went to 25X and another that went to 24X. The 42X started too high for me. The 30X went down to 4 1/2X and the 25X went down to 5X and the 24X went down to 4X.

Depends on the scope, the amount of travel in the scope, and the furthest distances you plan on shooting, coupled with the ballistics, or lack there of, of your set-up.

Usually, as you go up in power, you lose out on travel. The 5.5-22 NXS's have 100 MOA of adjustment, the 12x42's only have 45.
