NSS Remage barrel contour

I'm considering sticking with the remage set up on my 260AI, however I'm considering changing to a Bugnut barrel nut, which offers two sizes. Northland does not list barrel diameter at the breech, and I would like to use their Bull barrel profile. Anyone know if it is 1.20 or 1.25?

I'm thinking it's like having a shouldered barrel backed away from the receiver and a thin "shroud" extending from the barrel nut to cover the gap.

Well, looks like I missed the part that the Bugnut is for use on their prefit barrels only. Wasn't entirely clear initially on their site.

What a timely post. I was just sitting here thinking about a bugnut on a Criterion barrel. I'll be waiting to see if anyone here has done one as I need to get a barrel of some kind ordered.

I currently have a CBI remage and it shoots great. I do have a Pac-Nor Pacnut, but dont expect to be able to get one new again. I think they look better than the savage style nut anyway. The Bugnut system is $180 for a remage, not including the cost of a barrel. So, can still save money over a traditional shouldered barrel install and allowing the same larger contours, but still more than a traditional prefit.

So are you saying that you can't get someone to set the headspace on a shouldered Barrel for around $180

Criterion remage are sold through Northland. You may want to contact them about getting a blank from them.

One of their blanks is certainly an option but it would be nice to have Criterion do all the work including thread the muzzle. Maybe I'll give Mike at Criterion a buzz and see what he says, even though it would go through their distributor NNS (both nice guys). I started on a barrel in Sept and then got busier than heck. No matter what I do I'm looking at 4 months or more for a barrel so I better get going.

I'm not so concerned about cost just so long as I get what I want and it shoots good

My 260AI is a CBI remage, and I have two other CBI barrels as well but are shouldered barrels, they're all shooters. I'm currently at 800-900 rounds on my 260AI so I'm starting to roll my quarters and look at lead times. A bugnut system with a CBI prefit 1.25" would be very nice. If you are able to make it happen, please let me know.

Didn't know that... website says they've started rebuilding and sounds as though they expect to re-open mid to latter part of next year.

I decided to take the path of least resistance. I ordered a a contoured blank from Brux and they are shipping it to Southern Precision for a nut when its done.
