NRA

When I renewed, I opted out of the gift, but got it anyway, from China. It's so hard to purchase anything that isn't made in China. If the price sounds good, it's from China. Even when you try to help the US merchants, you'll find a made-in-china tag on 90% of it. If we don't re-establish manufacturing in this country, we'll all be running barefooted and naked, soldiers included. That the NRA spends our money in China, pisses me off. Besides, who the hell joins the NRA for the junky gifts. I'm a member to protect the 2nd Amendment rights of Americans.

Darn it! My new orange vest label, says Product of Vietnam.

George was from South Carolina.

Where are your jeans made? Where are you shoes made? Where are most of your clothes made? Etc, etc, etc!

The fact of the matter is we live in a competitive globalized economy and that’s not going to change. The secret is to find the best product at the best price.

Send the knife back and go buy a Kizer!
Most of my clothing is made right here in the U.S.A.

Perhaps you are not aware of this, but Kizer is a Chinese knife manufacturer.

I wish the NRA would get away from giving parts of the membership fee/donation away. The reason why people join the NRA is not to get some cheap bags or knifes or whatever as a giveaway, but because they want to support the cause. Not sure which marketing "expert" there drives these free things, I think it would be better to sell better quality gear with logos at a decent price, so whoever wants an NRA knife, can buy a SOG or something similar with NRA logo at a price that makes sense...

I try to buy my clothing from US manufacturers also, not easy and more expensive than most Americans want to spend. For example, the cheapest US made quality jean costs about $70, I predict there aren’t many takers around here.

I am well aware of where Kizer knives are made. They are an example of a Chinese manufactured product, made of excellent quality materials with first rate fit and finish, for an amazing price. Welcome to the global economy.

The ONLY 2 brands of jeans that I buy are from Diamond Gusset or All American clothing......I own a lot of foreign made things but I never buy foreign when I have an American made option. I'll fight the global economy till the day I die.

How about all the globally sourced brass, bullets and powder?

Global economy is a double edged sword. Someone somewhere will always be better and cheaper and faster.

I think most of us are willing to pay for quality usa made products. We just need to get more people to follow that same mentality. Instead of the cheapest throw away products.

Call them and tell them no mail, no hat, no bag, no gift.
I donate money with stipulation that it stops when they send me crap.
"A man gives you money and you send him stuff to throw away so the reward for contribution is inundate with trash." Interrupt my play time i cut you off.
No junk or junk mail here. Not 100% but works well.

I understand your reaction and cannot challenge your philosophy.

But you should have kept the knife. I got the same one (if it has a brown handle and black-coated blade). It is the sharpest folder I have ever owned. Cuts way better than an expensive $75 USA-made Benchmade I bought some years back. Seems to hold its edge well too. I use the NRA knife almost daily.

Maybe you can salvage it from your trash can, LOL. Give it to a neighbor. It is a surprisingly good knife.

A global economy is not a bad thing, it is simply reality. And if Trump's efforts to level the playing field are successful, it might be a better reality. (Go Trump!)

It would be nice if we could export gun rights to other nations of the world. Sure would help our firearms industry. jd

I get tired of all the mail I get from them, but when I can afford it, I send some US dollars to them. I kind of wish that they had a donor program where if I send them say-- $200 per year, they'd send me the mag and none of the junk mail. jd

When I send them money for my membership and a magazine, they turn around and spend ALL the money I sent, for printing and postage asking for more money. It would be interesting to see the advertising budget compared to gross income for the year.
In my eyes, it is pretty poor use of my donation.

Maybe you should send them more money less often, if that makes sense. I have an NRA Golden Eagles knife. It does not say where it was made. I also have a damacus knife Serial #016 that was made by a German knife smith (Gaston Glock). It was hammered out of an M48 tank barrel. At least the steal is US made!

Doesn't bother me tho, very proud of it. Just remember, thousands of shooters from Australia, England, South Africa, Canada, ETC.... only WISH they had a strong NRA to back them up. Send letters to Wayne about his stuff but keep it and use it. You never know when a liberal might see it and get pissed off! That's worth the price right there.

I'm a life member, but don't like what they are doing. American taxpayers contribute to them . The least they could do is spend a few thousand dollars more to provide American made products to help out the American businesses that provide the money they bank. How many tens of millions of dollars do they contribute to organizations that support them? Realistically speaking, it isn't that much more expensive to support the Americans that support you.

Edit: When was the last time China donated money to the NRA? American taxpayer dollars. Support and buy American made products. They write that paltry amount off on their taxes each year anyway. Wake up. Give us American made trinkets, or nothing at all.

I hate the crap in the mail, and I hate phone calls, and I hate having to keep track of whether or not my membership fee is really due or just a reminder and promotion -- BUT-- I truly believe that the only reason that we still have the legal AND the God given constitutional right to bear arms is because of the NRA. It is their fault that we haven't been steam-rolled like most other countries in the world.. And, "We are the NRA". jd

If they didn't pay Wayne LaPierre $5 million a year it would help!
You'll never know how much the employees are actually paid. They are a not for profit corporation. Face the facts. Money is the driving force for loyalty.

Not for profit corporations don't have to disclose anything. Don't drown on the Kool-aid.

Sorry, I forgot you are all knowing.

So whats an IRS Form 990?

Nonprofit corporations must submit their financial statements, which include the salaries of directors, officers and key employees to the IRS on Form 990. Both the IRS and the nonprofit corporation are required to disclose the information they provide on Form 990 to the public when requested.
