NRA needs a House Cleaning

"Dismayed by the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops, Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate formed the National Rifle Association in 1871. The primary goal of the association would be to 'promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis.' Since then, the NRA has been the premier firearms education organization in the world. From training the next generation of gun owners to leading legislative and political efforts to defend the Second Amendment, the NRA is at the forefront of preserving your freedom."

It would be interesting to see a poll on what people actually think on a breakdown of what the NRA actually is and accomplishes in its present incarnation. Most people who try and stand behind it can only offer the lobbyist aspect.

I am not saying that has no value as it does. But I wonder what those two gentleman would think of it now?

A vast majority of my local gun clubs require NRA membership to join which bothers me quite a bit. I asked one of their higher ups why not give members the option of picking from an approved list of pro 2nd organizations? He looked at me with that "this is the way it's always been done" expressions. Another WLP groupie I guess.

At Tomball, we require a NRA membership.

If there is indeed the amount of fiscal corruption in the NRA as many suggest, I will wait until there is legal action with sworn testimony in a court of law that ends in a prosecution with a guilty verdict before I decide to crucify the one organization that has the political clout to fight the good fight.
