Disagree its all on how you set up your system. How your frames are build, how your sensors are mounted (right angles) and measured quickly. Shot Markers basically are SMTs at heart as that was the code basis used on them. Shot marker has made it easier for the end user to use the system by their interface but as far as how it marks the shots, etc. its all the same basically. SM does use a better system as far as connecting targets to the users as it is stronger but SMTs works as long as the club and users keep los with the server repeater. Many clubs early on who experienced issues with SMT targets just expected to slap them up there and make them work and it didn't. As state on another thread its not the accuracy of ETs that the issue but clubs willing to put in the effort to make them work repeatedly is the issue. Those that have issues usually don't.
Your issues at our range were you got blown off paper on that windy day not because the system lost your shots.

I wasn't there so I cannot personally comment on last year at Atterbury. But like you, I have been told by a number of people that they would never go back, mostly because of the pits, but for a number of other reasons as well. Obviously the issue with the pits will go away with electronic targets but all of the other reasons will remain.
Below is a post from last July by someone who WAS at the Atterburry Nationals. I believe it pretty much sums up what me and most everyone I talked to who WAS there thought about it.
I had a lot of fun there. Probably the most fun since 2005. It’s about the same distance for me either way but I’m really tired of breathing desert dust for a while.
“I can report, that the match today went WAY better that I was bracing for. Some minor growing pains early in the day, but that is true for many big matches held at a (somewhat) new locale. All in all, pretty smooth once we got rolling and everyone had a chance to do one rotation. Considering that the "impact berm"/foliage does not move whatsoever (I naively thought that a projectile rocketing into the treeline in dead calm conditions might rustle some leaves or twitch some branches but absolutely NADA), there were remarkably, and relatively few "pull target X". The heat was tolerable, we finished about 2:30, the bugs held at bay with 25% DEET, and a good job by the staff, IMHO. Should get smoother until the LR folks decend....Drew”

The issue with Atterbury during the summer is the heat. In the summer with our pre-ET days it was unbearable in the pits if it was hot because no wind. If it wasn't hot it is fine. Temps were different during all the different NRA phases so different people had different experiences with that. Putting canopies up on the line helped some (for our club matches starting in 15) and going ETs in 16 fixed all the heat issues for our club.
As far as pulling targets Atterbury isn't any harder to see and pull than Perry, Oak Ridge and Lodi (Pre ET) being the best places. The only difference between Perry and Atterbury pulling target wise are the catwalks on each target were backwards, should have been high in the center and low on the sides or better yet same elevation all the way across.

Registration is open now. It is on e targets for xtc, mid, and long range.
