NRA Annual Meeting

Anybody going or already been to the Dallas NRA Annual Meeting? I plan on going in the morning. I have never been and really looking forward to it.

I went this morning when it opened. That thing was twice as big as I was expecting. It was freaking huge. I logged over 6 miles walking, and I didn't start my run app until I was already about a mile or so into it. Counting the walk from parking. I think all the major manufactures were there. I also saw a lot of celebrities in the gun world. Powderbrake, I did see Doug Koenig, I didn't talk to him though. Their was a big long line to see Uncle Ted. I wasn't about to wait in that thing. But, as I was walking by he looked up and acted like he knew me for a second and then realized, Nope don't know that ya-who and went back to his meet and greet. Also saw Jason Hornady. He was busy with to many people around him. I was going to tell him how I thought how ballsy it was to tell New York to suck it and that i'll buy more Hornady bullets because of that. I did buy a book from Craig Boddington "The Accurate Rifle and Rifleman" got it signed and took a picture. Talked a minute of Semper Fi with him. I would have liked to talked to him more but there was lots of people lined up to buy books and he had to do the meet and greet thing also. Talked to Mike with Krieger and also stopped at the Shilen booth they were great guys also. I walked past Colorado Buck's Booth and then I felt a hand on my should and a women say "Hey that book's a good read". I turned around and there was a gorgeous red head standing there. She said "My dad wrote it". I looked at her badge and it said Brittany Boddington. Man, she sure was pretty. She was also a real sweet heart. And was just talking to me like she has known me for years. I tried to talk to the Remington guys about what was going on with them. Didn't get much of a response. The sales guy I was talking to him said the bankruptcy was no big deal and the it should be over by next week. What ever that means. I thought they were moving production down to Alabama. That guy told me Ilion would still be making the 700's and shotguns and had no plans on moving production down to the Alabama plant. Marlin guns and the ammo would be made at the Alabama plant. So, I guess no big change in the QC department for the 700's. All and All I was really glad I went even though the crowd was huge. I figure that might be the only chance I will ever have to go to an event like that. I almost took the boat out and went fishing instead, glad I didn't.

glad you went. they are big- i usually take 2 days to see everything. every gun person should make it to that show at least once. i need to start exercising now so i can walk far enough at next years:D

I have only been to local Oklahoma City shows. The culture shock of big city traffic and parking wore off once inside. We went to the gold exhibit to get a history lesson. Very interesting.
Wandered around and looked thru some $copes i havent sold my soul for yet. Kahles ,$warovski,
Found Larry Potterfield and thanked him for all things Midway.
On the way to exit a coffee detour took us past the Geissle booth. Carol got coffee, i got another SSAE.
Back home in one piece.
Excellent venue, not too crowded. Needs more old fart rest chair spots scattered about.
Not a crowd person and completely unprepared, we really enjoyed the day.

Edit,
Protest.
As we crossed the street in front of the main entrance a 20 foot flatbed drove past with a 10 x 20 foot sign in english and russian. Cant remember exact wording but sorta like.
"Trump needs to thank V Putin for helping put him in the Whitehouse"
Caught off guard I failed to get a pic. Sorry.

Well, If I had seen old Larry, I would have given him an earfull, but!

I didn’t see not one protester. I was really looking when we left for em. The one guy I saw holding a sign was a pro gun sign. I was ready and didn’t see one. I guess it was good thing. It was really family friendly.

Didn't see any either. News said they were at city hall and had as many protesting the anti protestors. Unfortunately Dallas has a leftest Mayor and a very goofy leftest mayor pro tem.

Got a buddy that went. He is a retired Army commander. Extremely stern and not "excitable". But he was absolutely "giddy" while describing the event to me today. Said while there where thousands of attendees he seen 8 protesters that where garnering the local media's attention.
