Noticed ubr rule change

Noticed that the rule prohibiting muzzle brakes in ubr is no longer shown on the website. It was there weeks ago. Why the change?

I'm not sure it was ever on the Web site. It is pretty much left up to the match directors at their ranges.
I have seen them shot at UBR matches over the past 5 years occasionally.
I shot on the bench beside a guy last year that had one on and it was an adventure, I’m not sure it effected my score but I could see the blast through my scope and it was hard to concentrate

Kinda went around with Nightforce a bit on a severely pitted objective lens this week. They claim it comes from shooting next to muzzle brakes.$225 to fix plus shipping both ways.Which I have done,I've left multiple rifles or in my case I shoot XP-100's in magnum cartridges, on same bench and the one next to me ,something to think about.I have seen a bit of pits of front of my Labradar.

These types of, for the lack of a better term, changes filter into our sport due to weak and or greedy match directors. Someone comes up with an advantage and decrees it's growing the sport so someone gives in. I think overall it hurts the sport but they don't care. Problem is lots of guys who disagree keep there mouth shut when the subjects come up then quietly cry when this type of leakage occurs. Of course many support lots of it because it means financial gain for them.

The only thing I'll say about it is, there is an "unlimited class.". However, the
match director should set it up as such so, not to disrupt other shooters. As
Jeff mentioned earlier, have them on a separate relay. Spiral brakes are not
that bad. Gill brakes need to be by themselves, period.

I thought IBS rules were being followed, short range matches do not allow brakes.
Procedural rules, yes but UBR has different, although similar, equipment rules. Brakes simply aren't mentioned, so legal. But I can say for a fact that they are not often seen because they clearly are only tolerated, tongue in cheek. A new shooter..ok, for a match or so gets a break from the grief from others for a couple of matches and accommodated by benching them away from others, but that's it. No written rule.

Okay, we have our last match of the year tomorrow. So far we haven't had brakes show up. But next year......

But next year ?? Send a flier out, way before hand, and printed on the bottom
of registration fees that "Brakes will be only used on separate relays......You could
also have available, portable side blast shields. We have two at our club, and the
guy's with brakes hate them since they themselves get hit with rearward blast.
Go with the separate relay. Anderson Creek does this, and there are no gripes.
In the case you only have one or only two shooters, a side shield would be good
so not to consume a whole relay worth of match time.
