Nosler Varmageddon Bullets

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Nosler Varmageddon bullets? How well do they group? Any experience with live targets? Coyotes? Groundhogs? Any thought ideas or experiences? Thanks...George

I loaded some of the 55gr FBHP's in my .223rem.....they worked fantastically..all groups were in the .3's and .4's....(know that my factory rem chamber SUCKS...so that's good for my rifle lol)

Tried the 20 grain version in my 17 FBs, in a standard Rem factory barrel/chamber (LARGE diameter neck, LOOOONG throat) and they flat out didn't work. Tried three different powders, different seating depths, no cigar.

I bought a box of 55 gr. recently for my 223 Savage 10. (I'm currently trying lots of different manufacturers and bullet weights and styles to find what shoots best in my gun.)

In the same visit to the range, I had 40 and 55 grain V-max bullets shooting about 3/4"...where the Varmageddon bullets shot a horrible 4.5" group. That's off the charts bad! I tried to make everything as consistent as possible. Waiting 5 minutes inbetween shots....cleaning the barrel after each bullet type. (just brush then non-oiled patch)

That's as bad as that crappy American Eagle stuff I accidentally bought. 4-5 inch groups with that trash ammo.

I'll give the Varmageddon bullets another try the next time I'm at the range, but I don't have much hope.

what was your load?

They too were 55 grain. So I was REAL surprised that the 55 gr. V-max did as well as it did, but the Varmageddon did so poorly considering they were the same weight.

These were factory loads.
