nosler rdf

I personally couldn't get them to shoot in my 6-284. Didn't try to many settings as I didn't want to burn out the barrel looking for a load that worked.

They shoot better in my rifle better than the ones in the green box and are not stupid in price of the yellow box bullets... Maybe some day the others can come down off their clouds and price their products at a better price..Remember to keep all shots in the middle...

Shoot steel out to 1000yd fine, and the high BC is certainly advantageous. May not shoot tiny groups as well as other options, but for this purpose they do well.

The 140gr. shoot really good in my RPR in 6.5 creedmoor. Better @ 1000 yds than any other bullet I have tried, because of the B.C. I don't find it beneficial to jam the bullets in my rifles. But I don't shoot anything smaller than a 6.5mm bullet. I'm waiting to try the new 210gr .308 bullet coming out soon.

I haven't gotten them to group very well yet. Waiting for the next range day to try the Berger seating test on them. They do not weigh very consistently to me as I think a Match bullet should. The weight varies about 9 tenths of a grain spread for the 50 or so that I've done out of the 1000 that I purchased. I was hoping for more like 3-4 tenths, but if I can get them to shoot better after the seating tests I'll be ok with sorting them into 3 or 4 weight batches. By the way these are 6.5 140gr overstocks, they are not seconds. Purchased them for a good price and will buy more when they are back in stock, if I can get them to shoot better.

I purchased a box of 140s to give them a try in my 260 F-Open rifle. I experimented around and used most of the box up but found that the load for my 140 Berger Hybrids was a good load for the RDFs. My load for the 140 Hybrid is 42.5 H4350 in Lapua brass, BR-2 primer seated at 2.970. The RDFs were the same just seated at 2.900. both are sitting about .025 off the lands.

I then bought another box to load a full 100 up in one of my Lapua sets of 100. I sort all of my completed rounds for concentricity and take only the best to the line. Leaving the 3's and 4's for velocity and zero confirmation before a match.

I had planned on not taking chances so I was going to shoot these in a mid-range F-Class match. Something about the best laid plans... So last weekend I took them to a 1000 yard match at Butner, NC. I get 2840 with my Hybrids but the RDFs only came in at 2820. So I put all of that in my ballistic calculator and set the elevation to 26.375. First shoot for fouling was a 9 at 10 o'clock. Second shot was an 8 just above it. I had used there advertised G7 BC and the measured length for the ballistic calculations. Looks like they are telling the truth. I then took my corrections.

My first string of 20 shots wasn't great by the standards some of you guys shoot at (I am just classified as Long range sharpshooter). I shot 181-1X. What did bother me was in mid string I got 2 8's maybe 5 shots apart. One was at 12 o'clock and the other was at 6 o'clock. I cannot account for why these shots were where they were. Both times I saw the results I checked how the stock was sitting on the rear bag and both times it was centered fore and aft and not capable of dragging. This load chrono'd on 5 rounds in the single digits for SD. IIIRC like 8 with en ES of maybe 20

The next string of 20 3 hours later in switching winds was 187-2X. In that string, nothing less than 9 was shot.

Since I am taking this barrel off at the end of the season and moving to 6x47 Lapua and I have enough 130 and 140 hybrids for all the matches I am going to for this year I won't be getting anymore. But if I were to get more, I think I would use these maybe in place of 130's at mid-range, not long range. I have 3 boxes of 6mm 105s and I think that is going to be my strategy with those. Then based on how they shoot at 600 will tell me if I buy more and use them at 1000. Right now I have at least 2 season's worth of 105 Berger Hybrids.

They are not "supposed" to be sensitive to seating depth, but when I ran the Berger test my best group was at 0.060" off the lands. They have shot well in my 6.5x47.

I use the .308 175gr RDFs in my Savage 10. Consistent 1/2" MOA or less with the load I worked up. I am at .030" off the lands if I'm not mistaken. I thought the BC seemed a bit optimistic so originally when I worked up my tables I used a more "safe" BC value from the green box stuff. I ended up hitting high consistently and had to adjust the BC closer to Nosler's advertised number. They have been good for me.

Ihave a 20' bull barrel 6.5 Creedmoor and wanted some extra speed so tried the 130 RDF as opposed to my normal 140 ELD-M. Buddy suggested .040-.050 jump! He uses them alot. I ran .040 jump with 42.5gr of H4350, Hornady brass shoulder bumped .002 and BR primers. SD-4.6, E.S-10.8 MV AVG- 2869 I was pleasantly surprised and shooting 1/2 MOA @100. Gonna stretch them out this weekend. COAL was 2.859 in my Sav 10. Wyatt extended box mags gives me a bit more mag legth. So these are not hot, no pressure signs or tight bolt lift.

I shoot the 105's in my 8 twist .243 and they are equal to the other 6mm bullets for accuracy. Having only used the RDF bullets at 300 yards I can't comment on long range performance but if the Nosler BC values are correct the long range performance should be good. I have shot 1 hole groups with the 105 6mm bullets at 100. Be careful when reaching for another bullet in your plastic cartridge box because these bullets are real pointy and they might stab into your hand. I have some.22-.250 and the RDF bullets would not expand as well as plastic tip bullets. When checking out the RDF bullets I did not see any expansion cracks from forming on the ogive. I would be very surprised to see them blow up but then no other bullets shot from my rifles have blown up. Trusting Nosler to make a good bullet, I did not bother to weigh and measure these bullets.

Target use good
Varmint use not good
Hunting use not good

Real pointy ("that's the point")

Just funnin with you mike. You shot that rifle excellently. Looks like those bullets are working for you for sure
Dusty the big difference came about in that rifle and 2 MIL SPEC 5r Gen 2 plus a Ruger American with 77 RDF's is when I switch to ArComp all factory rifles and a pair of 68 year old eyes. Take Care.
