Nosler bullets

Now i know stuff is hard to find for last few years, but what is noslers excuse before covid? I had wrote them a few times starting back in 2018 i think about hard to find there bullets. Was told production would be better by 2019. Then 2020 hit. Seems like only hornady has been making stuff for the reloaders lately. I know brunos quit selling nosler about that time frame. Anyone else notice this? I do lile there varmint bullets but way too hard to get. I have also see there prices WAY up from before. Hornady has also gone up some but not by$10-12 per box.

Unfortunately, Sierra, Berger have started making loaded factory ammo now.
Sell 100 bullets for $30 or 20 loaded rounds for $55?
Nosler & Hornady in the same boat.

Seems like Hornady is the only one not giving reloaders, who started ALL their businesses, the middle finger.

Hornady makes and sells ammo as well and started long before Sierra, Nosler and Berger. In the case of Nosler, the $30/100 you mention, is $30/50 except for their target bullets.

Nosler has always presented themselves as elitists, better than all the rest. And like every other company, uses the price point to support that ideal. While I really like using some of the bullet lines, I refuse to pay some of their escalating prices. There is always SPS for some savings but waiting for blemished product to show up for some of their lines is just as aggravating.

Flexibility is the operative concept for me these days. If I can't find the powder, bullets or primers I want, I switch to another manufacturer. Yes, it means retesting and what could be construed as wasteful due to the lack of product in the first place but we have limited choices currently.

Find other bullets which are available and test some. Enjoy the activity instead of bemoaning the fact that prices are ridiculous and products unavailable.

Load up then go out and shoot something for the pure joy of it!

:)

Yes I have not bought a nosler product since the Vmax came out when that happened those thieves lost me as a customer

Yea, a real bummer for sure for me!!:(:(:(

I've used Nosler and Sierra bullets for more years than I can remember. I have refined and high-performance loads that took me a lot of time and effort to develop off the bench which I hate.

Now I can't get those bullets. Hornady bullets seem relatively abundant so I'm about to make some measured changes as soon as my Nosler and Sierra supply is exhausted.

Fortunately, I stumbled upon the 60 Vmax, and it shoot absolutely great in my 8" twist Tikka 223 bolt rifles. The bullet is readily available, cheaper than Sierra and Nosler. A real find! :):):) I got a bunch at my local shop - :) so this winter I will using this for practice and predator hunting.

The challenge is to find a bullet for my 223 Rem bolt rifles 12" twist which are my prime varmint hunting rifles. Many years ago, I used the 55 Vmax, and it shot fairly well so I may be head back to the dreaded bench for some load development work. For some reason, the 50 Vmax never worked for me. Perhaps because the 50 is boat tailed and the 55 is flat base?

99% of the bullets we make are for reloading. Only 1% or so is used in our ammunition, military or OEM customers.

Is the 60 a flat base or boat tail ?

I ran the 53vmax in my 12 twist. Excellent accuracy for pdogs.
I sold the rifle and the guy that bought it uses it for pdogs with the 53vmax. This past September he was 100% satisfied and tickled right down to the ground with the combination on pdogs.
Edit: The 55vmax and 60vmax are flat base. The 53vmax is a boat tail.

My basic question also: if 99% are for reloaders , WHERE are they?

IMHO- Kinda goofy having to harass manufacturers to get you a product that is double priced than what it was?
(I have Nosler 40 + 50 gr BT bullets here I bought just a few years ago for 18 cents).

They are boat tail and so are the 60vmax. The 55vmax I believe are flat base.
55's have a small boattail.

Huh, I have had little issue with finding varmint bullets in 22 caliber up until the past 6-8 months.
I don’t buy 1-200 at a time, usually 500-1k. When I get down a ways I start looking, oh and I don’t pass up a good sale either.
Maybe I don’t shoot as much as others? 17,20,22 and 6mm probably around 3-6 K per year depending on my schedule.
Hoarding, nope just have them at hand when I need them. I am not real loyal to one brand either, past 30 years I have used about all that is out there from 40-60 grain varmint bullets, with data/recipes that have worked well in various rifles and cartridges.

Thanks for the info.

Both the 55 and 60 Vmax's are flat base which is what I prefer.

Barefoot I had an issue with 130 6.5 bullets and you asked if i bothered to work up a load, and answer that was almost an insult. When i said I did i had hoped you would give me some nugget of reloading info to help. But nothing. the guys are looking for bullets and you give them nothing, some drivel about 1%. Maybe you could tell them that the last big order of those bullets went to blue collar or precision or something. Sometimes I think you must work for Sierra, cause you ain't helping Berger with your replies

Bullet mfgrs have been too keyed into making ammo of their own or supplying ammo mfgrs for my tastes, and they want too much loot for their own ammo.. Only mfgr that isn't too spotty is Hornady, mostly ELDM's though.

Most manufactures just recently focused on factory loads more than past years. That does not explain nosler bullets going scarce back in 2018, at least in my neck of the woods. I can of 100 miles away and find stuff thats non existent around me. Same for say 22 mags. A friend went to another state about 6 months ago and store was loaded with them. Arround me can barly find them.
