Nosler BT Spitzer 85Gr

Does anyone know what bullets these are? They are labeled 16341 (Partitions are 16314) With the Sierra game king 85gr being unobtainable I loaded up a few and they fly real nice. The boxes are usually labeled as varmint but you never know and I may have to use these for hunting season.

I did a search on line and can't find squat.

They are very consistent in weight only varying 3/10 grain across the 20 I weighed, base to ojive is really consistent as well.

They were the precursor to the Nosler Ballistic Tips. They were/are accurate and put through the lungs would work on deer sized stuff. I used them in the past in the 22, 243 & 25 calibers with fine results.

The ones I loaded I just used the Nosler 85gr load data and IMR 4831 (My go to for 243) 43.5gr three rounds at .432 MOA. Might do a little better at 43.7 or 43.9 we will see.

I see the Sierra Pro hunters 100gr hitting the shelves suddenly so maybe the GK's will be next.

Jack,
A gentleman by the name of Gale Root worked for Nosler engineering bullets. His favorite cartridge was the .243 Winchester. He developed the 90 grain and 95 grain bullets for the .243.
He took a slew of deer and black bear not to mention several Elk with those bullets. Although he never recommended them for elk , tons of deer have been taken with 6mm 90-95 grain Nosler Ballistic Tip hunting bullets.

Gary's #2 post above may be the best answer. Good luck finding any more of these if you get to liking them. They are listed in Nosler's #3 manual, but not in #4 which was published in 1996. Judging from availablility the last 3 years, Sierra may or may not be a better long term bet. Stack 'em deep when you find 'em.

With the Sierra's you seem to be correct. When they do come out I will order a few hundred. I only use the 243's for hunting so 300 will last a long time.

That was my go-to bullet when I started reloading for hunting 35+ years ago. I used them on deer in my 0.243 and they worked great and shot very well. I havent seen any in a couple decades and would have jumped on them if I did.
