Nosler 80gr CC over Varget loads

Getting ready to start a ladder test with 80gr Custom Competitions.

These will be shot from my AR 15, loaded one at a time for F Class. Looking for a good load range for this ladder test.

Hodgdon shows 22-25grs for 80gr SMKs but it also shows a col of 2.55 which looks like mag length. Since mine will be longer then mag length I'm not sure about this range.

Nolsers website doesn't give a load with Varget.

Nominal magazine length for an AR15 is 2.25". The longer 80gr bullets use the longer length of 2.55"

I only have load data for the Sierra 80gr and Varget. However, I've sinced switched over to Berger 82gr. My old and new load data:

Sierra 80gr
24.5gr Varget
Winchester brass
CCI 400 primer
.015" off the lands

Berger 82gr
24.3gr Varget
USGI LC brass
CCI 400 primer
.030" off the lands

Highpower shooters I know shoot anywhere from 24.0 - 24.5gr of Varget with a Sierra 80gr. I'm running 24.3gr Varget with Berger 82gr. 23.7gr should be a decent starting point with the Nosler CC.

Sounds like a good starting point.

24.5gr of varget are my favorite load with 55gr bullets. I'm a little surprised its also a good load for the 80grs. I guess it's due to the 80gr bullets being seated out further.
