nosler 80 grain ballistic tips in 243?

I have tried this load and it shoots fine. But I have changed to a 87 Hornady not the V-max but the HP, because it has a better BC. That load shoots lights out in my Rem 700.

They worked fine in my Rem 700 (using IMR 4350) but the Sierra 80 grain Blitz worked better and at a significantly cheaper price. The latter is totally devastating on ghogs and very good in the wind.

thanks for the feedback.

I am in the process of trying some different bullet and powder options to see what sort of load I can work up for a 243 I recently had a new barrel put on due to problems with the one it came with from the factory.

The primary purpose for this load is coyote hunting.

I have a handful of powders from IMR and Hodgdon to try and
I have a number of different bullets to try, including:

80 gr sierra btsp
85 gr sierra sp

87 gr v-max, been a little put out with results from this one and H4350 so far
87 gr bthp

70 gr nosler ballistic tip
80 gr nosler ballistic tip
90 gr nosler ballistic tip
95 gr nosler ballistic tip

The 90 grain Nosler BT is very accurate in my 10" twist 243 with IMR 4350, even though it's a big game bullet, it will work well for coyotes.

Do you use the IMR 4350 (or another powder) with the 80 gr Blitz in your .243 Win load ?

I was shooting about 42.2 of IMR-4350 with the 80 Sierra SBT (Blitz) bullets earlier, but was only getting 3000-3100fps. So I switched to Reloder 17 powder and now have these same 80's up over 3,300 and starting to look very promising at about 44.7 grains, seating them long and using Fed210GM match primers. But I'm not quite finished with this load yet.

yep, as I looked back at my notes just now - I had to go all the way to 43.0 of IMR-4350!! with the Sierra 80 Blitz to break 3,100 fps. Very accurate load, but I am focusing now instead on 44.7 of Reloder 17 and possibly just slightly higher -- where with this combination (44.7/RL17/80SBT) I was just over 3,300 fps with no signs of pressure. The 43.0 of IMR-4350 load is well over the published maximums and like I say, just wasn't delivering the same speed I've seen with other powders (like 4064, H414, even Reloder 19 and now Reloader 17) with these 80's.

Nothing bad to say about IMR-4350 powder though. If you are into punching paper, 4350 and Reloader 19 - so far in my gun - have been tops! Reloader 19 with 70NBT's at about 3,250, and Reloader 19 with 85hpbt's at right around 3000fps, being the winners so far in my Tikka from just purely an accuracy perspective. Mine are hunting guns though, and I LOVE the performance on varmints the 80SBT gives me in the field. So I'm still looking for top velocity (flattest possible shooting), with the most down range energy possible for my 243win.

Loaded up some 80 Gr Blitz with H414, and Fed GMM in Lapua cases. I hope this gives better accuracy than the 87 gr V-Max in my 10 twist Sako.

Yes, I've used it for 80 grain Sierra Blitz bullets and it groups close to 1/2 moa out of my Rem 700 (sporter barrel). Another excellent choice is 4064 for this bullet weight - it's the powder listed for the accuracy load of this bullet in the 47th edition of the Sierra Manual. I've used both and both have worked very well with this bullet weight.
