Nosler 60gr Partitions in the 220 Swift

I bought a box of the Nosler 60 gr Partitions to try in my Remington Classic 220 Swift, 24" barrel 1:14 twist. Based on the Nosler load data, IMR-4350 is a place to start over CCI-200 primers.
I was just wondering if someone out there has tried this bullet and what kind of accuracy they may be getting.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I use IMR4350 in my 22-250 with Nosler 55 grain solid base and ballistic tips. 38.0 grs with CCI 250s is fairly slow, 3,275 fps but usually less than 1/2 MOA. Hope this helps.

Tried them a few years ago in my first Gen Rem Varmint Synthetic (VS)
Rifle is stunningly accurate with 50 and 55 gr bullets
Couldn't get them to group Think the 14 twist and the longer 60gr bullet was the issue
Tried the classic H380 and IMR4064 powders No luck My experience for WIW...

According to their website, that bullet needs a 12 twist. Hornady makes a 60gr hp that works well on deer and other stuff. Barlow

They worked well in a 22-6mm I had but it had a 1-8 barrel

Whenever someone claims to have shot a half way decent group with that bullet I have to wonder how!!! Not saying they didn't, not saying it cant be done. But I will say this...it aint easy and/or there has to be some trick I don't know. I have tried that bullet in 1-in-14, 1-in-12 and 1-in-9 twist. I even tried it in a 1-in-8 and it shot very consistently in every rifle.....about a 2"-2 1/2" group all over the place. Some groups were in the threes!!!
I have probably tried honestly 8 different powders, just about every primer known to mankind and several different brass cases. I cannot get them to shoot at all and I can say that it is not for lack of an accurate rifle. I just recently finished a nice 223 with a Muller Barrel Works barrel that will put most bullets in the same hole. It's 1-in-12 twist, but it will not shoot the Partitions any better than the other rifles and that is telling me it's the bullets.
I believe the accuracy of a Partition bullet is always less than match or target bullets and I have seen other calibers as well as know several shooters that have the same experience. I have tried a lot of different ones and the only Partition bullet I have used that shot with all the bullets touching at 100 is the 160 grain 7mm.

The 60g Partition is a deer bullet, keep things in perspective. So, if the bullet shoots an inch and a half, you are more than good to go for short range deer hunting. IF you shoot a deer on the shoulder on a broadside shot at less than 100 yards, you will throw away the front half of the deer.

There are three of us back here that have shot them in Remington 22/250's in 14 twists with a max load of IMR 4350, win primers(brass needs full length sizing after firing). One guy owns an apple orchard, he killed at least 12 per year.

You simply can not believe how much damage this load does to a deer...seriously!

Play with bullet jump after you have the most accurate load you can get, work up to a large jump(.090).

As an alternative, 64g Winchester(12T?) and 63g Sierra(14T).

I could never get them to shoot either. 65 gr Gameking hammers and performs well

.224" deer hunting bullet will not work in 14" twist barrels. Don't bother, you'll be wasting your time and money trying.

14" twists are good for up to 55 grainers only.

If you want to hunt deer with your 14" twist 220 Swift. Neck shots will drop them like a stone with any varmint bullet.

You are talking almost 2,000 ft lbs of energy .More than enough for deer size game .That's with a 60 grain loaded in the 220 swift . I like IMR 4831 .

With a TR of 14" you can just forget it ,have a look on the
table and you will change instantly your mind
at least beyound 300 yards most bullets will tumbling and print keyholes.(the problem ist the bullet length)
The 14" twist is a bullshit idea for any hunting purpose rifle.
If you have further doubts go to Berger twiste rate calculator and you will illuminated quickly.

Wit 14 twist , on deer, inside 300 yds, a Sierra 55 hollow point game king at 3900 is excellent. Big hollow point for expansion, thicker jacket, plenty penetration. Low BC/ wind drift is downside

Excellent speed and accuracy with N-550. Very little carbon fouling. Worth a look. This is observation, not conjecture. Ymmv
